You did it and are still doing it! As a 48 yr old married dad of two navigating life - if it wasn’t for bands like Chumba I wouldn’t be working in mental health fighting for the most powerless people in society. Myself and many others had their minds changed and were able to think differently and see things differently, I think we have to acknowledge that this is huge and in that way it did change the world. Perhaps the fight is harder and gets harder, we might not have achieved what we hoped - but to try and keep on trying and not suck i all the crap we are fed is huge - it scares the establishment, maybe smaller victory but victory all the same 👊

Not too sure how I came across this but really enjoyed it. Came across chumba 1990 in my 20s and was lucky enough to see them doing little gigs as well as big ones and festivals remember hearing tubthumping on the radio whilst I worked on a plant nursery and most didn't get it they thought it was a drinking song Crackin band and song as an ole fart now would be great to see you old farts again

This is a superb interview. I’m a 90s Chumbawamba fan and still listen to their albums. If I ever see Dunston in town there’ll be some thank you drinks waiting. ❤

Cheers for the memories! I remember Chumba supporting The Subhumans at The Venue, New Cross-the whole floor was moving up and down with the crowd jumping-never been at a gig like it since. Old punks just keep going innit?! I'm now a volunteer for The Rivers Trust-conservation, water health and pollution monitoring, biodiversity recovery, flood control etc etc. We find a niche and do our bit if we can-people power-the bands are the influence and you take it further- a few distractions along the way mind you-hedonism took over for awhile but we're still here doing our bit. There's a podcast on Spotify callled Chumbology....two American guys discussing the songs. Great fun, well worth the listen.

Dunstan's rant at the Brit Awards "New Labour sold out the dockers just like they'll sell out the rest of us!" was proven prophetic when New Labour allowed BoJo to become PM just to keep Corbyn from taking over the party. Chumbawamba should be admired for using their moment of pop stardom to sound the alarm on Tony Blair. Oasis vs. Blur or New Labour vs. The Dockers. Which one was more important?

Live in Australia. Saw them early on when they would start singing from the back of the Gig. Which was powerful. Can't get this Film for Love nor Money out here. Great band/collective..hugely influential on some great people.

May be his age is around with my father . I knew tubthumping through bgm of world cup in 98. And one of korean band remaked tubthumping in their piece. So Koreans know tubthumping because of bgm of world cup in 1998. I was kinder garden school during that time .now i am around 30.. I think when he was the member of chumbawamba he was around 30 years old . Almost same age with my age now...

Great interview; down to earth chat, loved it. Totally relate to the sense of anger/rage in the 80s, dealing with the 50s “trough”, applying the same political outlook differently and still trying to contribute to change. Pictures is still the album and time that I align with Chumbas… and standing at the back of all the gigs selling anarchist books/literature. Great view from back there. Thanks for inspiring the memories. A film about Crass, the Mob, Omega Tribe etc would also be awesome.
