What an interessting idea for a serie! I love the idea of the chunkman being limitied and having like a "home" but having the option of going on "adventures" outside but only for a while before having to return home to complete your tasks. i don´t think that the series necessarily need a final goal but something that I love in a serie are "mini goals", but something outside of your current chunks, that way while watching along you are always working towards something, first one could fx. be a firecape, another one could be your first barrows item. Each one of these goals have some smaller goals like rune crossbow and range armour for firecape and barrows have some quests and some kind of mage spell. I might be way behind with these suggestions as this video is already 3 months old but figured that I would share my thought now before watching the rest and I can´t wait to see where you end up taking this series. This is a series idea that I feel like can be done in a lot of different ways depending on who is doing it. And what heartbreak on all of the clues disapearing, bu great video and keep up the good work!

Thank you very much for the feedback :) Due to the random nature of rolling the next chunk, an overall series goal is unfortunately mostly limited to "complete this chunk". And well, that is quite the lofty goal for the first chunk here already ^^;

@@DonYagamoth That´s very true, it would be a shame to work towards a Jad goal and then never rolling the chunks that would kind of ruin the idea of the goal haha

It seems we have even more in common, as I was also initially thinking of doing a Onechunk Tileman account for my series! :D But then I realized that I haven't played the game in a decade and decided to go with something a bit less intimidating lol. I'm glad someone else is crazy enough to do something like this! (And you're a UIM too--insane!)

Very interesting concept, some of it went a bit over my head. I think you over explained it a bit, which I totally get as I would probably do that too. You're one hell of a masochist my friend, i'll be watching with great interest! Your rule set when it comes to tiles outside of the chunk, is solid. It's also quite the conundrum, you'll have enough tiles to go anywhere pretty much. You could get overcomplicated with the math and scale the unlocks depending on the level of the skill. Or you could simplify, the tiles you unlock within your chunk can be used (to one degree of seperation from your tasks as you explained) and when you unlock a new chunk you lose all (used and unused) tiles. As you expand your usable area in chunks you lose the available tiles you can unlock, this adds a thoughtful planning while also making you think about using as many tiles as you can while you have them.

Thank you for your thoughts :) I'm currently working with the mindset of losing all tiles once the next chunk is rolled. But as you said, this does come with the consideration of maybe wanting to prepare for the next chunk beforehand. This would be easy initially, since there's not too many potential chunks, but as the map expands, it could get complicated. So I'm also considering if I should just do a "don't prepare for the next chunk" kinda thing, to take away from potential tedious preparations for all potential rolls. But I have not decided on that one yet

Bit late to this, but the tileman challenge of Settled had the rule that for every million xp, the cost of a tile would go up with 1000. So 1000 tiles from the first million XP, 500 from the next million, 250 from the next etc. If we would cap that effect at 10 k xp/tile, you would be looking at about 4250 tiles from your first 26 million XP, and 100 tiles for every mil XP after that. For a total playthrough: You'd get ~2850 tiles for the first 9 mil xp. And 100 tiles per mil xp after that. At max skill levels, That would still give you a total "tilepool" of ~31.850. At 200 mil xp cap per skill, the absolute maximum achievable amount of tiles would be ~463.000. The entire overworld of OSRS is 2240 x 1600 tiles. So 3.584.000 tiles. However, a lot is inaccessible. Less than half given all the Oceans, rivers, plants, mountains, buildings, lava etc. But, there are underground tiles and pocket dimensions for boss raids etc. So, lets take half as a total tilecount. In that case, using my tileman method, you can buy a quarter of the walkable tiles in the world. Combined with your chunkman ruleset, I think that would be a balanced but challenging combination. Im interested to see how you approached this challenge!

Thank you for your thoughts :) Making tiles increasingly more expensive would've been a good way to approach it as well I feel. It would put a more or less finite nail into the tile-coffin, and make every tile very valuable, which would be desirable - Although I think it would be tricky to balance how and when to increase the cost, considering my additional chunk-requirements that I have to pay for in tiles somehow The way I ended up going is as follows: - Wipe out all tiles unlocked after a chunk roll - Every 4096 Total tiles unlocked, but not used, I can manually unlock a chunk. This gives each tile more meaning, so I don't just use them willy-nilly. And it adds a very fascinating strategic for theorycrafting to potentially strategize for future chunk-rolls - Every 100'000 XP I gain one tile to start with in the next chunk (1% of the tiles) Your ideas and input are still welcome - I'm always forgetting something somewhere ^^

A good alternative would be to make tiles outside of the chunk more costly. For example, a tile inside a chunk is 1000xp, but a chunk outside a chunk is 10kxp. So you can move out of the chunk, but its very costly. Good video!

Thank you for the feedback :) Tiles inside the chunk - I assume you mean the underground areas? More expensive tiles outside the chunk would be concerning due to the requirement for completing quests that begin within the chunk. At least it wouldn't easily combine with the concept of wiping out all tiles after a new chunk roll I'd guess

@@DonYagamoth No problem, I was more brainstorming another possibilty rather than an addition to your current ruleset! I was talking about the simple concept of extrem one chunk with tileman, and if you want to go outside an unlocked chunk, the tiles would simply cost more. So in theory, you would have to get 99 wc and 99 def in first chunk, but while geeting all the xp, you could utilize it to get upgrades. The tiles would cost alot more tho. In this concept, there would be no wiping of tiles unlocked, because tiles would be extremely costly outside unlocked chunks!

Make it so tiles get more expensive as you get more total level or total xp? Seems reasonable given you need to do huge grinds right off the bat, and also you'll be unlocking chunks eventually which reduces the total load on the tileman component.
@DonYagamoth
@DonYagamoth 7 ай бұрын
The biggest concern with tiles getting more expensive would be, that the requirement to complete the quests that start within the chunk could be a major hurdle with that aspect

I don't know a whole lot about OSRS, it's been about 20 years since I last played it, so this idea may not be possible... For Tileman couldn't you use the tiles you unlocked in order to "purchase" chunks? i.e. you unlock tiles as you gain exp, when you get enough exp for a chunk then you can select it as available to use. That combines the chunk selection and Tileman into one. After you purchase a chunk you need to do all the stuff in that chunk before progressing to the next one. Though I have no idea if you'll have enough exp for all the chunks you'll need without modifications.

Due to the 99 Woodcutting and 99 Defence requirement I would initially have a heavy influx of tiles. But once those are spent, it would take a tremendously long time to gather 4096 again, so while it would work initially as unlocks, it would get fairly tedious after a while Fair ideas though, thank you :)
