If you go to 3:11 and slow it down to 0.25, you can see that Neuer had taken a full step the correct direction before the guy even shot!!! Amazing how accurate keepers get at predicting:)

Haritharan S bro there is def skill in predicting the direction but it isn’t foolproof. There are techniques I have personally been taught to know which way to dive.

@@lntg you're right, but i feel there is only so much the keepers can do to predict. probably brings up the probability of diving correct direction by 5 or 10%. It makes a difference but is it really a skill if its still around success rate of less than 50% based on this shootout. Its like me being able to score a pen only 50% of the time, maybe better than my friends but overall isnt a good ratio. I may be wrong lol but perhaps its subjective, depending on what threshold becomes 'impressive' to someone.

It's a hell of alot easier to use technique as a goalkeeper against a regular person since they are naturally going to be more predictable than a professional player taking that shot.
