In this video I'm in Marruci, a fraction of the municipality of Pizzoli (AQ) in Abruzzo.
The abbey church of San Lorenzo martire and Sant'Equizio abate is located in the center of the hamlet of Marruci in the municipality of Pizzoli (AQ). Its origins date back to the sixth century but the current structure was rebuilt between the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries. The church has a Baroque appearance with medieval traces and in ancient times it was inserted in a monastic complex of which the abbey cloister is preserved. The facade, with a rectilinear crowning, is plastered and is characterized by the stucco cornice and the corner stones in squared stone. In a central position is the eighteenth-century portal with a semicircular tympanum and two rectangular windows on the upper sides. The church housed for 1000 years the relics of Abbot Sant'Equizio, co-patron of L'Aquila together with San Massimo di Aveia, San Bernardino and San Pietro Celestino. The internal room with a single room is covered by a wooden trussed ceiling and a gabled roof with a mantle of tiles. The trousseau is characterized by baroque altars of exquisite workmanship, fragments of 14th-15th century frescoes, the 15th-century baptismal font, a 15th-century fresco and white marble flooring. The presbytery ends with a flat wall while the semicircular apse serves as a sacristy room. On the right side of the church, set back, rises the mighty bell tower open on all four sides by a fornix. It hosts a concert of 10 bells cast over the years, of which the 9 largest are electrified for the sound stretched out by impulse and striking with striker while the smallest is fixed and is electrified only with striker. Many bells were cast at the behest of Don Mauro Medina and the people of Marruci, on the occasion of the great Jubilee of 2000. The system, electrified by Borsato and Bordignon, is managed by a Belltron GM - 700T programmer. The sounds recorded in this video from the belfry were performed manually by the programmer while those of the Sunday angelus shot from the outside with the drone are programmed.

The music "Look for his face"; "The law of the Beatitudes"; "Pater Noster", accompanied by Pope John Paul II, are taken from the musical CD "Abbà Pater" produced by Vatican Radio, to commemorate the 2000 Jubilee. The interpreted version of the Gregorian chant "Sanctus" is accompanied by the voice of Gabriele Benvenuto. A big thank you goes to the parish priest Don Mauro Medina and to the sacristan for the precious availability and collaboration in the realization of this documentation.
