If your church isn't open every day (the vast majority aren't for many reasons), Saint John Chrysostom said your home should be a “little church", where you should continue to encounter Christ through prayer and study.

I'd love to see parishes around my area open each day for the whole day to do things like pray and for people to visit and inquire. Not to compare, but Muslims around my area have mosques open all day every day, and it gets a lot of people to visit. I really want Orthodoxy to grow here as well, but it would seem to me that keeping the holy buildings open often and long would make a huge difference. In fact, I'm working with my parish right now to make this happen. I hope others will in their area as well. Thanks for all that you do, Father. It really is a huge help to the Orthodox faith in America!☦️

to be fair, islam has 5 mandatory daily prayers wear the mosque should be open so they could just leave it open for the hours in between. it would be kinda cool to see morning, midday and evening prayers at church where you can kinda stop by and check it out

All those things cost money so maybe find out a way to raise more income for your parish where such things are possible.

I wish. I live right next door to my parish. And I need to try to convince my priest to let me have a key so that I can at least go in and pray with whoever wants to be there during the week.

I have been doing research on Orthodoxy off and on for a few years, and I have just recently had a desire for actual fellowship and to find a church. As you can tell, I am not Orthodox, but I am interested in it. That being said, this particular video touches home. As a Protestant, I have been more around Fundamentalist Baptists before becoming Reformed and being around Baptists made me want to go to church more often. As a potential Orthodox (hopefully), I desire to do this daily. The nearest church is about 45-50 minutes away. I might be a bit difficult to go to worship daily. Right now, I have found myself unemployed and looking for work; my wife has suddenly come down with a medial issue which is keeping her from working (her health is more important to me right now). We currently live in Northeast Texas, and Tyler is south of us, about 40 miles away. There are two churches there. Starting out, I want to visit, but my wife may not have the same desire as I, yet she still has more of a Protestant mind, I guess (me too, in a way). My desire is also to grow more parishes in this area of Texas (maybe not me, directly-I'm not a priest). In my Protestant mind, it is a huge mission field. This is what I want to do. How do I do it?

I can’t go to Orthodox Church everyday because that church is an hour away, my local Roman Catholic Church is one block away, I can go there everyday if I wanted…..it’s a nice place to go pray in…

I’m in the same boat. Not everyone has an Orthodox Church in their local area or nearby. We do not live in Russia, Greece or Romania. In America, only large cities have Orthodox churches because immigrants flocked there… In the rest of America, it’s 90% Protestant/ non-denominational churches, and you are lucky if you have a Roman Catholic parish nearby. We Orthodox have to make do in America.

City life is preventing many from coming to the church every day due to work schedule, distance, etc. Village life is completely different as the church is mostly walking distance away and as a villager one has flexibility to adjust one's activities to make room for church services.

*For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.* Forgive me, I do not mean to speak against the church fathers, nor to dispute any orthodox order, be it a grand temple or a small icon. Rather, I wish to encourage many of my fellow commentors who express the fact that their local parishes are not always open. Perhaps there are even some who cannot get there for the location is to out of the way to be there daily. To that my brothers and sisters, I kindly express, engage in what the Lord said, in what I echoed at the beginning of this post. Gather yourselves in His name... God willing, you will, as other faithful believers have expressed, stand in holy places and be not moved. Godspeed. 💙

I nearly didn’t watch this because the video editor doesn’t know the difference between an adjective and an adverb: “everyday” and “every day”. This poor literacy detracts from the message and doesn’t serve the Church well before the world. I understand most viewers will be American, and so the error will have little impact, but come on team, this Father has a great message, don’t do him a disservice with such sloppiness.

Just like biblical and historical evidence proves that jesus and his apostles were vegatarians biblical and historical evidence also proves that the trinity, atonement, original sin and hell are very late misinterpretations and are not supported by the early creed hence its not a part of Christianity I pray that Allah swt revives Christianity both inside and out preserves and protects it and makes its massage be witnessed by all people but at the right moment, place and time The secred text of the Bible says ye shall know them by their fruits So too that I say to my christian brothers and sisters be fruitful and multiply Best regards from a Muslim ( line of ismail )
