Mrs. Raynes thank you for all you do. I am a 911 dispatcher and love to listen to you play on my way home from a rough shift. I am not religious but it brings me peace. Thank you.

Dear, I am an OLD woman, and your message is a breath of fresh air. I want to share, if I may, that being 'religious' is NOT the same as being a Christian. My prayer for you is that either you ARE, or WILL BECOME a Christian. In Christ's Love, a fellow listener. My love to you.

@@kaytiedidd1780 I'm older, too. Just wanted to thank you for sharing the truth with the dear dispatcher. I know that is what I should've done. I'm convicted, but thanks to you, I'm going to be bold in the Lord.God bless you.

Thank you so much for your comment. 💙 I am so glad you enjoy the music. I’m actually not that “religious” either, but I do have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through His salvation. And He is the source of real, lasting peace. I’m sure you hear horrific calls for hours at a time. Our world is broken because of the presence of sin. But Jesus paid our sin debt through His death on the cross, giving us a choice to live in victory and real peace through His work of salvation. That’s a lot to unpack, I know. I’d like to encourage you to read the Gospel of John in a Bible. It will tell why Jesus really came…and you’ll see why “the religious” crowd actually didn’t like Him very much! He came for the sinners, which I’m thankful for, because that’s me! 😊💙

Hi Mrs. Raynes, I started following your videos 2 months ago, and your piano playing is one of the purest I've ever heard both in expression and articulation. I'm a gospel pianist but I somehow lost passion and stopped playing for almost 3 years since 2020, due to life's challenges. Your music rekindled my passion for the piano and most importantly, expressive spirit-led playing of hymns and sacred songs. I got a digital piano 2 days ago by God's grace, and I'm slowly getting back in shape(musically😂). Thank you for being a blessing to us with your amazing talent. God bless you! All the way from Nigeria🙏

I love listening to your playing these old songs! My earliest memories are of sitting on the piano bench next to my mother who was the pianist in our Los Angeles A/G church--I was one year old. Gotta contradict @Katiedidd--unless she's over 100, not OLD! I'm 85 and I don't think of OLD, especially when I play in my bands with a friend who has just celebrated his 99th birthday and is going strong as a trumpet soloist! And several years ago I played in a small group with a trumpet player who at age 92 bought a new trumpet. Always be positive!

I love listening to you play. It’s cool to see other millennials playing the old hymns as well. I’m working on learning to play the piano better. I grew up playing by ear since I was around 5 or so. I honestly don’t remember not playing but I never enhanced it. I played with my mom all the time because she also played by ear and played exceptionally well. Sadly she passed unexpectedly a year ago. Shortly after her passing, I looked at our piano and didn’t want it to become silent. I ended up seeing an ad for an online program and joined over the summer and began practicing regularly in the fall. I noticed how you play and you hardly ever, if ever, look at your hands. That’s incredible. I get lost not looking at where my fingers are and have to glance at them, especially if I change octaves.

I really love how you show your playing when you play. I can't read music, can't half hit the right notes, but watching your hands I'm able to pick things up that seriously help me! You are such a blessing! I don't know if you've ever considered it, but doing an accompaniment project for say like churches who don't have a pianist or even some who would like to sing these hymns as a special but don't have anyone to play for them. You would be great at doing this!

Why are the hymns in the hymnal written so high? Why are they not in a key that is comfortable for the congregation to sing in?
@NatalieRaynesMusic
@NatalieRaynesMusic Жыл бұрын
I think this hymnal is unique in that, in some ways. It is definitely pitched higher than most hymnals. Hymnals are written for people to sing in harmony, not unison. So, the sopranos and tenors should sing the high notes, while the bass and altos sing lower. 😀
@kathygreeley2361

@@NatalieRaynesMusic Thank you That makes sense. I always wondered. I know they are written for the singers and not the piano. I just didn’t know why they were so high.
