Greatest TV show ever. I've seen each episode a million times but never grow tired of them. I'm watching right now as a matter of fact. The one were Goober takes the car apart in the courthouse.

My wife and I recently joined a small country church and we sing 3 or 4 hymns each Sunday and this song was one of the songs we sung ! What a joy it truly is 🙏💖

Andy Griffith said in an interview a few years before he died that he and Don Knotts would sing hymns between takes and that D. K. would always "pick up a perfect tenor line".

Yes, his voice appears to come and go on the show, but he sang beautifully here.

You can tell when he finishes the first verse, he was miles, and probably years away. Probably recalling his grandmother singing it or something. I love this episode.

My grandparents had a big, rambling house set back off the road and the plowed fields around; and it had a wonderful half rap around porch with wooden rocking chairs- and this scene in Andy Griffith brought back those memories of years gone by...

I sing along whenever this episode comes on. Peaceful soothing song. Many people forget Andy Griffith was a Grammy Award winning singer and musician. I believe this song is on one of his albums.

This is one of the three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show that always brings a tear to my eye. The other two are the first one when Opie doesn't want Aunt Bea to leave because "she can't take care of her self." The last one is when Mr. McBeavy comes down from the tree and Andy realizes that Opie was telling the truth all along.

@ John Freeman Barney’s speech in the episode were the businessman is trying to get revenge on Andy for extraditing him back to Mayberry to stand trial for a ticket is a great one too.

One of mine is the cave rescue when Thelma Lou says “Barney is quite a guy” and Helen says “as a matter of fact they both are”. They were both very proud of their men for very different reasons.

One of my favorite Andy Griffith show episodes is when Andy goes to Sam Beckers house to deliver Sam's wife's baby. Then when Andy and Barney are standing on the porch and Sam comes out the door with the baby fussing he calls for Andy and Sam asks him to hurry sheriff, I can't get Andy to stop crying. He asks him Andy and Sam tells him yeah.

Hello All from hamilton Ontario Canada . Been watching re runs of all the shows. This is from Season 3 and been watching since Pharmacists Ellie in season 1. Somehow this one is so special I stopped and slowed down to enjoy. The intro of Gomer and cousin Goober was just awesome. Plan to have this as my daily tonic. Yes life was of wholesome values back then. Can’t imagine how much Ron Howard must treasure working with such a fine cast. Merry Christmas to All. Dec 20, 2021 Ps. In the show itself does anybody know what car it was that the out of town guest was driving ? Thanks !
