Unlike the other soldiers willing to lay down their lives, Levi CANNOT be replaced, he must do everything in his power to stay alive, so he's there when he's truly needed.

I mean she knew enough to respect his skills as a human soldier, but without seeing him first hand on the battlefield against Titans period yeah she 100 percent like Zeke would have absolutely massively underestimated him, which is totally understandable by the way, afterall not only are Titan Shifters pretty confident especially Annie and Zeke way more then say Bertolhdt of course, but not only are they supremely confident but they truly had no idea a human with sword a human period could take on a Titan shifter head on hell they thought they couldn't beat regular Titans let alone master shifters ya know, so yeah Zeke and Annie at least back then for sure underestimated them especially Levi at these times. Its why its a really cool detail where Reiner in that flashback was warning Zeke about levi saying be very carefull of him dont let hubris or pride or ego get in the way he may be just a human but Capt Levi is extremely dangerous Reiner basically told zeke, and while I'm sure Zeke believed that Reiner believed that and likely believed Levi was at least there best soldier he would have still 100 percent underestimated Levi and likely didn't think for a single second Levi would be capable of even fighting with him let alone beating or demolishing him.

Man, I still remember when I first watched this scene. After watching how strong Annie was, it was utterly depressing. Because of all the sacrifices and deaths leading up, I seriously thought they were going to fail, and one of them would die trying to rescue Eren. The series did so well making most of us believe nobody could beat the Female titan, then bam, in comes Levi. Why Levi won this fight: 1. Not a single time during the fight he used the grapple on Annie. He only grappled to other objects, so she could not predict his whereabouts and movement. 2. He used gas A LOT. Most of the fight it was just him draining his gas tank. It is a high risk - high reward approach. It allowed him to move very fast and unpredictably, but the fight would have to also end fast, or he would run out of gas. 3. Taking her eyes out and leaving the blades inside is a nice touch. Hard to heal that. 4. Patiently waiting for her to pull the first move. 5. Annie's mistake: punching Levi? Why? If you want to catch a bee, are you going to punch it? This was a huge mistake. 6. The fact he took this stance at 1:55 means he thought this through, possibly during this scene (1:45). He knew he was going to go for that hand first. So it was not a rushed fight. He already had planned everything.

You can see a clear difference in skill and intelligence when it comes to Levi. He purposely left the blades in the titans eyes to prevent them from regenerating. Then began his assault on the arms to lower the arms and not telegraph his attacks by anchoring to the body but around it leaving the titan completely hopeless when it comes to defense or counterattacking. Levi definitely lives up to his title 🙌🏽

I know the newer seasons are works of art and everything I love them so much but this SCENE just hits on a different note, this has to be my favourite fight in the entire show. Probably the most capable tighter shifter at hand to hand combat versus humanity's strongest hero. Even though we don't have all the information at this time seeing Annie blitz through hundreds of Scouts, Levi Squad and Eren with no trouble at all I was really not sure what to expect when she faced Levi, but my god it paid off only a couple of minutes but such an intense scene. Even though Annie was helpless here, she actually put up more resistance compared to Zeke on his first encounter with Levi Edit: I don't know if you people watched the same video as I did but Annie was able to protect her nape up to a certain point which Zeke was not able to. Levi took more effort to just disable Annie's arm where as Zeke's arm and hand was instanty sliced into a million pieces. Annie also almost killed Mikasa had it not been for Levi's save. So yes, Annie put up more resistance since she wasn't as easily defeated as Zeke.
