5:26 "We can't depend on laws to order our behavior. We actually have to have a virtuous people". AMEN!!! That is the crucial/critical insight that is missing. No amount of funding, government programs, or laws can make up for a lack of virtue.

Michael Parkinson. Great comment! Here is a similar thought.That is why one of our (I'm an American.) founding fathers wrote that our Constitiution was for a religious or moral people. It costs the goverment money to give us a fair trial with a jury. Our system needs a low rate of criminality so the government can afford those things.

There are so many good people around the world, who's fundamental teachings of their religion, say to love God and, all mankind. Christ even goes farther in saying to love your enemies, doing good to those who hate us, and praying for them who despitefully use this and persecute us. If religious freedom were taken away, not only would we have a more difficult time drawing closer to God, but we would have a harder time in loving our neighbors as ourselves. It's okay to share things that we differ in, and things that we have in common, but all with a loving heart. Instead of throwing around words of contention and enmity, about our differences in belief, we should concentrate on uniting, to help bless mankind for God. United we should stand in love for God and mankind, divided we fall, and fail in truly blessing mankind.

Don't be too quick to make assumptions about what he was thinking or what his intent was. He may have been preoccupied in his mind with a difficult matter for all you know. Don't assume it was because he had cold feelings towards you or is uncaring or something like that.

I've had the same kind of experience, but you know they're just people trying to do an important work. They aren't Jesus. You are on Jesus' mind right now. It's so nice when we get a little validation from people whose opinions we think matter, but really if God loves you and is deeply engaged in his plans for you, then who else matters. In being employed with the church my testimony has grown. I realize now more fully that God has always accomplished his miracles through the most frail of humans. I have lamented sometimes that I can't be as good as I want to be, but I have seen Him take what little I have and make good things with it. He can do that for you too. So, please don't be discouraged. You matter as much as anyone else alive, no matter who does or doesn't notice you.

It's interesting that the catholic brought up the essential beliefs. That is where things become murky. He mentioned the belief of the one true God. Isn't true that lds believe they can become a God one day and that God Himself was as we are now? That is an essential belief that separates christianity from Mormonism. Christian's must agree on the essentials and believing who God is should be at the top of the list.
@Hamann96313 жыл бұрын
Jason. If my Father in Heaven has a God that doesn't turn me into someone with multiple Gods. Abraham has a throne in the heavens but he isn't my God. Every christian, unless they are accusing The Bible of lying, must believe in 3 Beings who are Gods. That means the one God we have is a group of Gods with a perfect sinless unity of purpose.
@boydmoney30333 жыл бұрын
Jason. Jesus told us what was at the top of the list. First great commandment is: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind," before also paraphrasing a second passage; "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
@michaelparkinson95763 жыл бұрын
That we are Gods is a teaching of Christ. Probably highlighted more by the Church of Jesus Christ than other Christian denominations, but it is not uniquely ours. It came from the Psalms in the Old Testament and was reiterated by Jesus. John 10:33-36 "For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?" As far as I'm aware, in verse 34, Jesus was referencing Psalms 82:6 "6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High"
