This comment has made me so happy! I love watching Gilmore Girls with my mum! @@ciarascorner I really don't know exactly the genre (sorry). Most of the times I go to the library / bookstore and read summarirs , if it sticks with me I read it. I'm generally interested in reading classics so I'm always on the look for must read books by famous authors etc. I know that this isn't very helpful. I can say though that I love books with a message. I like books that work best as books. I watch a lot of movies and TV shows so I wouldn't want to read something I could better enjoy as a movie. Does this make sense? English isn't my first language so it's a little difficult to put it in the right words. Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate it a lot.

I think I know what you mean! With classics I’d say you’re definitely on the right track with Jane Austen as her books are great and really fun, my favourite of her books is Emma! I’d also recommend trying some modern classics, anything by Daphne Du Maurier, The Great Gatsby, The Catcher in the Rye! If you’re enjoying Brave New World, some other really good dystopians are Animal Farm and The Handmaid’s Tale... and completely different to all of these recommendations, if you want something a little more light hearted but still impactful, I’d recommend The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary - hope these help!!

I LOVE the movie! I do think the movie is very different from the book, where the book almost provides a series of snippets into a period of Susanna Kaysen’s life that she had subconsciously forgotten about for many years, therefore making the book disjointed and very authentic, the movie more cohesively ties all of those snippets together in order to make one joined up story! I think both are great, the movie is more dramatic but cinematically beautiful while the book feels very raw and authentic!

I’ve never watched the show, but now I want to! I got 86, which was more than 95% of quiz-takers. It’s always interesting to see these kinds of lists, and fun to compare and get inspiration - but no one should feel inferior because of their result, because 1) Rory Gilmore is a fictional character and we can assume that if she was real, she’d have read quite a few books that turned out not to be worth her time, and that’s not reflected here; also 2) in the end, it’s a game of chance, because I’m sure most of the people watching this video have read several hundred books over their lifetime, and to have even a small overlap out of two samples of a few hundred when so many books exist, is actually pretty remarkable, statistically speaking 😄 Thanks for a fun and engaging video! I have about 2000 words’ worth of thoughts about what constitutes a literary canon and why Rory is both relevant and irrelevant to that, but I’ll spare you 😅
