I owned a Warwick Corvette Standard with a Bubinga body. In my opinion, the Warwick Corvette is the standout model in the Warwick series. The Thumb or Dolphin Pro I are a bit excessive, leaning extremely towards the distinctive Warwick style, whereas the Streamer doesn't quite capture that quintessential Warwick essence. The Corvette is the perfect fit for me

The very first bassline gives me major E1M5 vibes from Doom 1. Beautiful playing as always! I really like how you use the entire bass as a complete standalone instrument, and not just for repeated quarters/eighths of root notes over and over like so many people. It's very inspirational for me as a beginner bass player.

When you start playing on a bass with that kind of clarity it really teaches you to clean up your playing if you know what I mean. It reveals everything as opposed to say a p bass which is more forgiving in terms of what you can get away with. But I’ve always noticed you are a pretty accurate player as it is so probably no worries for you 😊! Congratulations this is a beautiful bass and like you said it absolutely sound fantastic!!! Cheers!!!

All quiet…all amazing!!! Absolutely astonishing! The wood grain is beautiful, and the tone is so earthy and mellow…ahhh :) Once again another amazing improv jam! I started on double bass, and when I got my first elec in 7th grade I still remember thinking that the fret markers were like having a Game Genie haha it was like a cheat code (not to mention having FRETS!). I’m well impressed at how you play so well with just the side markers! Keep it up, you badass!! Thanks for kicking my weekend off just right 😎👍

Same here, mines a super cheap second hand effort. Precious owner had dinked it with a stupid studded belt but only cost around £120 on eBay 11yrs ago. I drove around 30miles to pick it up and I've gigged it many times. I just added dozens of stickers to cover the surface damage. Honestly it's got attitude, growl & a serious pair of brutal bollocks on it. The neck feels like a broom handle but weighs so little in comparison to how much "punch" it delivers. If I was far more affluent, I would have no hesitation in adding at least two more "W"s & yes they would both be German made. People seem to dislike the shape, but they're cretins and philistines with no idea of taste/style

I love what you are playing here it feels like there is some meaning behind what you are playing instead of your run of the mill generic riffs. If I may ask what are you using for that cello effect? Yeah, you are absolutely not joking. That is one clear sounding bass. In a good way, though. And how on earth is that not active, with such highly reactive tone controls... and the sheer punch from those pickups... It sounds a hell of a lot nicer than older Warwicks with Bartollini's, that's for sure! This one has a great sound for rock. And if somebody had told me 30 years ago that I'd be saying that about a Warwick, I'd have fallen over laughing, yet... here we are!

That tone is monstrous.IMO as a luthier passive done properly (spec and set up) is far superior to active. Less amplifiers between your fingers and the speakers and no batteries to catch you out 4 numbers into a live set. Very happy for you to have found a "proper keeper"! Good to see you installed back in your home bass base at last.

I got the Rockbass Corvette (be it that it has maple neck instead of Ovangkol and Alder body instead). Great bass, love the neck on it. Planning to put the EMG pickups and the BQC preamp on it. The previous owner even switched the nut to a brass JAN2 which is neat lil detail. Really great basses, had a chance to try few Streamers (Stage 1 and 2). My next goal is to get the Thumb, but oh well, got a long way to go!

Wow, just wow, Queenie, you are more talented beyond your years. This composition is nothing short of sublime. Haunting, thought provoking , inspirational. The deep base notes shake your (my) bones to the core, they get inside of you and I feel it. This Warwick Corvette Team build is simply outstanding, not only does this look great, it sounds fantastic. (Want one, need one!) This could jus be the king of bases, or should that be Queen of…? With the flood it’s not been a great year for you. But you’ve come out stronger, more resilient and you are going places, keep up the brilliant work - Mitch

That sounds really good... but seeing the list of players of Warwick basses I'd expect nothing less! And it does indeed have real zing with the tone up like an active, but gives that rich warm passive tone with it down. I guess the pickups are wound just so and the tone circuit can then just select the required frequency range, very cool. I'm glad you found it (or it found you? 😉) and look forward to what you produce with it. The heavier project sounds interesting, I suspect maybe a bit Tool-esque (the final piece was certainly in that vein)?

I am overjoyed to learn that you were able to finally escape the confines of the tent. You are more relaxed, and in great form. The long-awaited team-built Warwick Corvette was a success! It is obvious the fondness you have for that instrument. I was shocked when you revealed that the electronics are passive! It's timbre, punch, growl, and overall clarity are usually indicative of active pickups, and preamp combination. This bass looks as good as it sounds. All three compositions were very Cici-esque." The genius layering, and pitch rolls emerge cleanly with a quality instrument. I heard some tasteful dissonance (if there's such a term) during one of the songs. I dug it all. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend. Also, the glorious hard shell bag wasn't featured. Perhaps in your subsequent episode(s). Well done, as always. Cheers!

I have the exact same bass. Same colour. Passive. Made in Germany purchased in1995. I thought I wanted an active bass but hearing it DIed in studio (through a Focusrite ISA ONE) it IS incredible. It is an amazingly versatile bass. OH and I don't know if you feel this way but the neck wood feels "RIGHT" in my hands. I said I wish all my basses necks/finger boards were made of the same woods. One more thing: this may not be actually true but I was told at purchase that the fret metal is made of the metal mixture that is used for large bells. Thanks for posting- I'm about to pick it up NOW!

The clarity is just amazingly good, the great thing about it to me is that’s not active, nothing to be concerned about with playing it live. As you say it’s heavy but if it balances well it’s less of a problem. As usual I really enjoyed your playing, it’s giving me lots of ideas to think about! 🌹
@18hot30
@18hot30 Жыл бұрын
that thing about being concerned playing live is just bonkers. if you've ever owned an active bass you can hear when the battery is dying it doesn't just cut out mid song for fs , and not to mention I got an 18 V circuit with emg's a humbucker in the bridge and a jazz in the neck and those duracells have been going strong for YEARS. yes I play a lot unplugged but still, 3 times a week band practice plus live gigs and yeah...had to change batteries on my yamaha rbx once, it's a single 9v battery. And if you're super paranoid , put a new battery in before the gig or mod the bass to be passive/active.

@@18hot30 I appreciate what you’re saying but at times all of us can be forgetful, I do have an Active /Passive bass so it doesn’t bother me too much, I just have to adjust the volume.
@jamesreynolds4487
@jamesreynolds4487 Жыл бұрын
The reason why that thing kicks out so much volume it’s your bridge believe it or not that makes the biggest difference in town so the higher the mass the bridge is the more volume and punch she will get. Passive custom shop fenders can achieve this because look how thin the bridge is at the back, but that bass has a hefty bridge on it. I owned a Warwick streamer standard back in 2005 and they have come a long way. I like Warwick a lot. It’s extremely comfortable to play on stage and you can do a lot of jumping around and crazy stuff with them.
@vattuvarg

I understand why you like the Warwick. I play my yellow Rockbass Streamer while waiting for my JDG fretless to be completed. Very SciFi-ish tune, by the way. I would put an unverbed chopped heartbeat-like deep moog bass and some freakishly reverbed drums and call the result "Point of No Return". ...but what do I know? Thanks, Cici.

There's a story about the bass player from The Clash, he said his most favorite bass was the Fender P bass that he broke onstage to which that moment became the picture for their iconic London Calling album cover, but he says he regrets doing that because he never found another bass that had that magic touch to it like that one did, even though he's played and owned many bass's especially Fender P bass's. So that bass you have right there which is your favorite, is kinda like your London Calling bass, so take good care of it. 🤘🤘

Cant beat a Warwick. Lovely bass. I feel a Warwick endorsement coming 🤞🏻you need to try their range. Great tune too.

Wow, such an amazing tone - thanks for posting this Cici! I have a slightly tangential question - I am a cellist coming new to the bass and the ones I've tried, I have struggled with frets a bit. But I've seen a Chinese Warwick Rockbass Corvette $$ 4-string fretless for sale and wondered if you have any thoughts about whether it would be suitable for a beginner?
