CIDRs for Goats

Prepping for baby goat season 2023 has officially begun!
In this video we show how to utilize a CIDR(Controlled Internal Drug Release) to ensure your does have babies around the same time. This can make it more convenient to bottle feed, medicate, and raise baby goats together throughout kidding season.

There was a discussion on FB regarding inserting CIDR's. Very Good Comments. One thing to think of is when inserting the Gun/CIRD, the slit in the gun should face down and the curl of the "pull string" should point downward also. This way the pull string does not point upward & cause the goat "irritation" with her tail & lead her to rubbing her rear end on boards or whatever to try to "remove" the irritation. Also discussed was the fact for the Nigerians, esp. to cut off some of pull string as it is so long for the ND. Some are just cutting off the "ball" on the end of pull string on all goats so that another goat does not pull out the CIDR (or less likely).

Cidrs will not cause a pregnant woman to abort/miscarry.. however lutalyse WILL as it is a prostaglandin(progesterone blocker)
