I have a question about paper 4. Do the examiners actually run our code to make sure the syntax works or do they just assess it by reading through it

I bet they read through it. They know by looking at the code whether it would run or not. I think they would write and run it if a learner provided a solution that seems to use techniques beyond the syllabus scope and yet the code looks correct but the examiner isn't sure either. Again the marks are not awarded only because the code runs. A candidate can still get an A even if not a single programming code of all the code they wrote runs.
