I still remember when Joe Rogan cried interviewing Ronda Rousey saying that she was a once in a lifetime athlete. I give her respect for bring women's fighting into the UFC, but I agree with you, she is definitely overrated. One of my top 3 UFC memories is watching her getting kicked by Holly Holm and everyone in my home going crazy...to this day I still rewatch her loss to Holly Holm at least a couple times a year.

1. Amanda Nunes is the undisputed GOAT of Women’s UFC. Ronda’s “left-the-stove-on” fast armbars were special but not decisive. 2. Great fighter for sure. Showman will get you the fame and fortune, which are obviously favorable for a lot of people, but real fans, genuine fans who love the technicalities of the game, will appreciate the skill more than the showmanship. 3. Khamzat is tricky, but I still think he’s a beast and will only get better as he gets older. His cardio complications will probably hold him back from championship aspirations, but his grappling is unreal. Is definitely a nightmare matchup for many fighters, and his striking is pretty good too. 4. Jones is the UFC GOAT. GSP has a good argument and so does DJ. But his skill is far and away better than almost anyone. With Jones, if you can’t separate art from artist, you are forced to reduce your opinion of him. 5. GSP is either 1 or 2. He is the most complete WW of all time, avenged his losses, never really looked out of control. A true mixed martial artist. 6. DJ is so underrated. I wouldn’t even be mad if people had him at GOAT status. Blackballed from the UFC, maybe the highest IQ other than Jones, complete MASTER of the craft. 7. Conor is a highly overrated but not in a skill way. His striking is probably one of the best we have seen, his Pre-WW career was incredible. Unfortunately, fame and fortune got to his head. 8. Khabib is overhated. Fought some of the best LW’s we’ve seen, made it look easy. Never bled in a blood sport. Retired on his terms. Could’ve stayed champ for a long time but I have to respect his commitment to his family.

Khabib's resume is actually impressive, many people underplay it because of the fights before ufc, but the 29-0 aside, i think " gaethje, Poirier, McGregor, dos anjos, al quinta, michael Johnson" and these wins being very dominant ones, is enough to put him in top 5 or at least top 10 in my opinion

To me I appreciate skill over showmanship so that would get my vote. Nothing wrong with flair or style but it needs to be backed up by substance. Rousey is a tricky one because her impact on women's mma and the mainstream appeal of mma overall is undeniable, but as a fighter she was very one dimensional and the sport evolved too quickly for her. Other pioneers who did their thing mostly outside of the UFC definitely deserve more credit though (Cyborg, Carano etc.) With Chimaev now booked to fight Robert Whittaker in June we will soon know the answer to if he is for real or not. If you can beat the Reaper you are championship caliber, as we saw with DDP. Very excited for this fight. Also, re: the Khabib all-time ranking debate, it's also a tricky one. Yes he was undefeated and dominant in the vast majority of his fights but the title run was relatively brief. Honestly I think it's not so much the early retirement as the injuries he sustained early in his career that prevented him from attaining true goat discussion status. If he had beaten Tony when that was seen as a huge fight instead of it being cancelled multiple times, and then had stuck around to defend against Charlie Olives, then you are talking about a Mount Rushmore type of resume. incidentally, my top 10 goes: 1. GSP 2. Bones 3. Silva 4. Fedor 5. Mighty Mouse 6. Khabib 7. Amanda Nunes 8. Daniel Cormier 9. Jose Aldo 10. Tie between Volk, Adesanya and Usman (Islam is the active fighter who is most likely to enter this list at some point)

My hot take: Brock Lesnar was the most influential champion in UFC history. He took what was often a pretty boring and unremarkable heavyweight division, injected a shitload of energy and excitement into it and opened people's eyes to how important being a larger-than-life character is as a champion. He walked so Rousey, Conor, Izzy, etc. could run. This shouldn't be misconstrued with me saying the most important champion, that would probably be Chuck Liddell, or the best, that would be Anderson Silva, but most influential imo

There are 3 times as many 6ft men as 6ft3 men on earth. Assuming equal degree of domination, it's much more impressive to do it in WW than LHW. A good rule of thumb imo is FW = LW > BW = WW > FlW = MW > LHW > HW

Depends how you view it, just because there are more men on earth doesn’t mean it’s harder in the UFC. The likelihood of there being better talent due to more people is true but actually difficulty is not inherently true. For example you are much more likely to be knocked out by a shot on your way to a title that a featherweight wouldn’t be knocked out from in heavyweight due to sheer brute power.

Dude bans Paul Daley for hitting Koscheck after the final bell but Conor can attack a bus, Khabib jumps Conor's team, Werdum kicks Edmond and it's fine. Same thing with rankings: Kick Leon off for inactivity but gives Colby shot after shot. Goes on record to say certain guys don't wanna fight but then he lets Stipe (whom he has a history of tension with) sit out to wait for Jones and puts Aspinall in a really awkward position as interim champ. The guy is a greedy jerk but people give him a pass because he's the least stuffy, most entertaining head of a sports organization. Hell, he walked off of that podcast and then I just saw him do one with Usman and Cejudo.

Khabib lost a handful of rounds in his career, UFC included. Jones debatably lost to Silva and Reyes and is clearly ducking Aspinall. DJ lost to Cruz at 135 and Henry in their rematch. Khabib is definitely one of the 🐐s. When he retired, no one in the top 10 had a chance against him
