the best thing about this movie is: everything is so natural, from the conversation to their hair and clothes

Exactly. Everything felt so natural, yet everything is scripted. It feels improvised or something but every detail was scripted and looked after. I find this aspect so fascinating. Both Hawke and Delpy are such terrific actors to make it appear unrehearsed

This trilogy is the greatest romance story ever. It shows the change in relationships over time from the naive and whimsical innocent beginnings to the difficulties that couple face in maturation after having been together so long. It shows the honeymoon stage as well as the work it takes to consciously fight and chose your partner even in difficulties. A lot of romances make the beginnings magical but never discuss what happens after, I think this series does a great job of it and helps us appreciate the stages of love as well as the realities required of a relationship.

The three movies are simply wonderful. Nothing I've ever seen before. My girlfriend is surprised that I love them all and I rewatch them from time to time. Even a tough guy has a heart. She keeps repeating me that I'm not the kind of person she expects enjoying these movies. As a matter of fact I can't stand other romantic movies. Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight. Can't pick my favourite, they are all masterpieces. Two lovers who walk on different paths of life but always remain connected. In the first movie they are naive romantic dreamers then as they mature they never lose their inner young self.

He wanted, after the release of the first movie, to meet again the girl and he was hoping that she could recognize the love story and look for him. Then he discovered only later on that she died in the 1994, shortly before the movie was released, so she never saw their love story become reality. My pain is huge.

It was my last day in Paris. He was there abroad for the summer. We first met on the metro. There was this ease to our conversation and when It was time to part ways I asked him if he wanted to get off at my stop with me. He said yes. We walked and talked for hours. He told me about his family and his studies and I told him about my travels and my friends. It was only us. Two strangers one city on beautiful moment. He bought a bottle of wine and we lay under the eiffel tower discussing the ways of the world. I asked him about his writing and he showed me one of his poems and oh my god. I swear in that moment I fell in love. I had never experienced such pure beauty and simple connection before. We shared our first kiss under the eiffel tower. From then onward, we spent the next 24 hours together. We climbed the steps of the Sacré-Coeur and watched the sunset from the top. We got gelato (lots on gelato) and walked until it melted and our hands were sticky. We sat in the park and told stories of little apartments with little people inside. We walked up and down cobblestone streets, sneaking kisses when we thought no-one was looking. We spent every minute together and everything was so effortless and simple. But there was this constraint of time hanging over us. My last day in Paris. I would train back to london and then fly back to America and we would most likely never see each other again. But I tried not to think about that, at least until my train had to leave. It hurt the most kissing him goodbye. But I like to think that this is not the last time we'll see each other. that somewhere out there there's a version of us that exists. and version of me that never got on that train and a version of him that would have never let me leave in the first place. Or maybe there's a future. I have a feeling this isn't the end of us and Paris. Home is where the heart is. xx

@@Aquamous The whole story is nonsense. Paris is filled with "newcomers" that will pickpocket and attack you anywhere near the Eiffel tower or the Sacré-Coeur. Also, on the trains and stations. It's so bad military personnel are everywhere walking around with machine guns. Not that they ever do anything to stop the crime. They are only authorized to do anything if a terrorist attack breaks out. Otherwise, you are on your own. Been to Paris many times over the past 20 years, this fanciful story - which copies before sunset - is created by someone who's never even been to Paris.

Midsummer, Hong Kong - some time ago. I was chatting w/ a female friend of mine and when I realized our tastes were similar I sent her this song, suggesting she give it a go. Well that led to many other discussions, including our love for film. I smile, thinking of the hour conversation we had just about Before Sunrise specifically. Those humid, late summer days and nights with her.. I recall it all w/ a mixture of fondness and wistfulness. One particular late night - it was past 3 am. City still dripping - a rainstorm had passed earlier that evening. I'm going home, after having hung out with her for 8 hours. 8 hours that felt like 30 minutes. I walked blissfully through the humid cityscape of Hong Kong, listening to this... having a holy shit moment realizing the amazing connection we had, on every level. Someone so beautiful inside and out.

We're in the bar with friends. There's drinking, people laughing, whispering, some smoking. I'm in boyfriend jeans, black boots, leather jacket, hair done in my back, minimal makeup. There's a makeshift stage, the musician comes on with his guitar, the lights dim a bit to create intimacy. People look toward the stage a bit intrigued, seeking out the change that comes in the room, the musicians starts to play. Its mellow, we don't quite know his mellow tune, he's droning on about music in you and tell me whys, we're not fully listening but then we look across the table at each other and IT happens. IT happens, we don't know quite what but we just look at each other while the music plays, a small smile grace my lips, I look down them back up and you're still looking at me. I blush and then I'm holding your gaze looking right back at you and we both feel it. Something intangible that tugs our energies closer to each other and for the first time we're truly seeing each other, truly seeing the beauty in the other, or perhaps finally and silently admitting what we've both known all along. The musician keeps droning about lips touching and the apocalypse and our moment cements. We looked toward the musician as his words captivate us and the moment we just shared all the while sneaking furtive glances at each other. This has just become our song.Too late to pretend otherwise now, we both know. He finishes, the lights come back on but we're now different people to each other. The possibilities are there.

Before Sunrise and the Before Trilogy movies in general are one of the most sincere and touching boy-meets-girl movies ever made. While "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Say Anything" deliver nice portrayals, this movies strips down useless subplots and any general movie divergences. This movie focuses purely on watching the budding of a beautiful romance. You never doubt for a second that the film will lead towards the romantic pairing of these two people. You almost immediately sense the synergy and the chemistry between Jesse and Celine, and it is simply pure joy to watch them find it. This movie is mostly all dialogue -based. But, every conversation between these too is greatly intriguing. What makes this pairing so romantic is how real it is. How in all that conversation, while often having no real bearing on anything critical, you can sense the nuances as these two become more fond and trusting of each other. This is exactly they way you would dream that you meet that special someone. And what makes it so true is that it is not even too fantastic to believe. This could be what would happen if you had been confident enough to strike up a conversation with that person you noticed somewhere random. And what puts the icing on this film is the magnificent backdrop of Vienna in which this film takes place. It just adds to the feeling of romantic nirvana that the film suggests. And no matter how many times I watch this film, I don't think I will ever tire of that. Finally, would like to say kudos to the editor. Well crafted work.A smooth pairing of scenes with one of the best bands around: cigarette after sex. Bravo! Brilliantly crafted
If there's any kind of magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something. I know, it's almost impossible to succeed, but... who cares, really? The answer must be in the attempt.

If you make the videos with the intention of honoring the beautiful feelings that this song can stir up then no, they're as far from stupid as anything can be.

My boyfriend just sent me this song. This and sunsetz will forever be our comfort song. I have bipolar disorder and it gets so hard to exist sometimes. My mood has really been troubling us lately, I try my best but sometimes I just can't. We hung up the call, but he sent me this, and all I can think about is when we met for the first time. It was beautiful, pure, innocent and we were young. I hope I get better and be the person he deserves to be with.

That is the exact emotion I felt after I saw the movie as well as this edit for the first time. Not the first or the last time that I've felt that. I suppose making us feel this is what good art is about.

The third time I ever kissed someone, I felt exactly the way I and these characters felt when they had their first kiss. We had just met that night as she was in the bunk bed above me in the hostel I was staying. Her friends sadly ditched her so she did not have any plans so I invited her to join me and my friends for a drink. After that we just got back home to the hostel and it was just the 2 of us in the whole hostel. We put some music on and ate something while listening to the music and at some point started dancing. She told me that I would be great in musicals and coincidentally the song that came up was A whole new world from Aladdin. So I grabbed her and sang a whole new world for her and danced along to it. Towards the end of the song we had this moment where we got super close to each other. The thing is up until that moment, whenever I felt like Kissing someone, I did not know how the other person actually felt and also for consent, I asked if I could kiss them. But at that moment, singing a whole new world and being so close to each other with our heads touching I just felt so sure and knew exactly what her and I were feeling. And I went in for the kiss. That night was one of the best nights ever for me because that was the first time I felt loved by someone:) not platonically at least:) love this movie and love that night.

@@rachella8065 I did. That's why I'm asking. Maybe you have a different interpretation than me. First movie: they meet, fall in love Second movie: they remeet, rekindle their love, stay together Third movie: they make their life together, it's hard, not how they thought it would be, sometimes ugly. But also beautiful, tender, fullfilling and, most of all, it's real. Love isn't a fairytail

I met a girl from Spain on my first trip to London, spent two days together sightseeing London. Met a girl from Chile on my trip to Finland, spent a day strolling in Helsinki with her. Met a girl from Germany in Chicago, spent a day visiting lakeshore, riverside, cruising. None of those worked anything beyond those meets. It is always so easy in novels and movies. Life is harder. 😉

The most painful part of existence is, looking at someone you love you know is deeply madly in love with someone else and there's nothing you can do about it. And you already know you'll spend the rest of your life with that feeling. A life-long sense of unending emptiness in everything you do, every breath you take. It hollows you out! Now it has come to a point, where you wouldn't accept her love even if she is willing to take you back. You prefer emptiness, and morbid helplessness over happiness because you're too scared to be vulnerable again. despite all this.. you never get enough of how she looks at you, her pretty eyes, unkempt hair, the sound of her voice, listening to her innocent thoughts.

Last year, I met a girl. We were working in the same place, and it was her first time visiting this country, and so was I. In our first conversation, I felt love between us, and the whole team was telling me that they saw sparks of love between us. We went out several times and had fun nights and walked a lot at night. We behaved like boys and did whatever we wanted. After several months, she had to leave the country and return to her homeland. I did not accept that idea, but there was no way around it. Now she is in her country and I am here. A year has passed and not a day goes by without me remembering her, her smile, and her eyes. We no longer communicate now. The tiring thing is that it was a passing story, but it left a big impact on my life.
