Jemma was desperate and in despair; that is the only reason she turned to Will. There is a reason why you're not supposed to make any major decisions when you're grieving. You're not thinking straight, and she certainly wasn't. Regardless, I will never forgive the writers for creating that ridiculous story line. They just wanted to introduce yet another obstacle between Fitzsimmons, as if there weren't enough already.

The casting of Will as the hopeless handsome hero gave Simmons little choice but to fall for him under dire circumstances. She felt attracted to hot Will (just like Fitz felt attracted later to AIDA). The writer/director achieved their goal in the end. The Jemma/Will love affair was so compelling that, were this just any other sci-fi survival movie, everybody would root for Jemma/Will in spite of poor little monkey Fitz.

If will/jemma had happened in the later seasons, that would have been a definite problem. Regardless, I'm glad they got rid of Will in the end, although I did like the character!
