The movie seemed nice, however, some flaws in the script makes it a bit difficult to agree with. There is absolutely NO way the person responsible (Tray in this movie) for the space flight/trajectories would forget about realigning the sun-shield when he changed course. You can't just forget to do that. it is like going outside in space and supposedly forgetting to take oxygen with you in your suit. And when mace volunteers kappa for the repairs? If Kappa dies for any reason during the repairs, Noone will know how to operate the bomb so the mission would have failed. That is why Kappa is the one taking the only one suit to go back to icarus 2. He is priority one. Moreover, When Kappa realizes there is 5th crew member on the ship, he goes to face him alone without even informing the others of the possible threat?? There are plot holes in this movie and they make one wonder about what he/she is watching. Finally, on a logical point of view, it makes 100% more sense that you would not even take 0.000001% chance of going to go to Icarus 1 to possibly have 2 last chances. You would 100% try to protect the 1 chance you have with everything you got, and not jeopardise that one chance by going to see if icarus 1 works. If that one chance didn't work, then go back to mercury, and THEN try to see if icarus 1 has anything to offer...

@@Nick-wj3jyYour points are very relevant and I appreciate what you're saying but at least this film goes beyond 'Event Horizon' level silliness. I re-watched that last night and was not impressed! As Cillian says in the interview, even with all the highest concepts in the world, it's down to "entertainment" in the end and as this film goes, despite obvious inaccuracies, plot holes and flaws (damn it, we couldn't re-ignite the sun anyway) it still stands as one of the most impressive and entertaining sci-fi films ever made; even on the merits of its visuals alone. This film continues to stick with me (much like the Sodebergh 'Solaris' remake) and I will no doubt carry on returning to it

Can I just say that it makes me incredibly happy to know that Professor Brian Cox was the physicist that adviced on the science of this film. Cillian Murphy and Professor Brian Cox were in a room together talking about science. That might mean nothing to a lot of people, to me that is a beautiful thought and damn hot.
@fvulpe95037 ай бұрын
Murphy takes his films very seriously. He did a lot of reading for this one as he does for pretty much every role, certainly the complex stories. He has said interviews that because of the research he did for Sunshine and the experts and physicists and scientists he spoke with, like Brian Cox, in that process and all the reading he did, he walked away from his Catholic faith (an enormous thing to do in Ireland) and became atheist. He said there's no way there's any kind of omnipotent eternal being. It's simply not logical is the term I think he used. A statement like that and others that I've read that are why I would choose a long conversation with him before I'd choose a photo or autograph.

He doesn't do stage anymore. He's actually in quite a few. One which was inexplicably released straight to DVD is Peacock and is actually very good but.bunusual. A as are many of his. Includes Susan Sarandon and Elliot Page (then Ellen). He just excels in everything he does. Peacock is one that might not appeal to some people. Inception has been called a perfect movie but I just can't get beyond half an hour. And I'm not a stupid person. I just don't like it. Don't care about the characters. Although I'm sure I'll continue to try from time to time. Breakfast on Pluto (KZbin) is a must. One of his first which is amazing in itself. Do more online research. If you do a search for Cillian Murphy films, you'll get a number, like 10, 12 or so, the big ones, maybe more but that's certainly not all. If you keep searching both on KZbin and Google you actually learn that there's a lot there, it's just some are small films, or some didn't do very well, even though they're good, for whatever reason. Free Fire is an example. I've not seen it. Likely hard to find. Poor reviews. Searching for reviews can bring up many. And he had small roles in some of them. He was actually in Cold Mountain but a very small role, on camera for a couple of minutes only, far into the story, and he's virtually unrecognizable except for his voice and body size. But I'd never seen it and enjoyed it. My annoyance right now is that I never saw Oppenheimer in the theater, only online, because I just never got around to doing it. Unless too busy. And so now that I actually have the time it's no longer in theaters. It's probably gone to DVD.. I hope some IMAX theaters bring it back now that it's won so many Oscars.

Ahh I'm so excited I got the exact same message from the film as Cillian did! One of the reasons (along with the dozens of others I gush about at length to anyone who will listen to me) I found this film so uniqe and intersting and unlike anything ever done, was the incorporation of having a scientific dilemma with a religious and moral focus into a film with so many other things going on and still having it a salient point that's opens minds and begs discussion.

I think I know why they sent Cillian Murphy to the Sun to revive it, it’s because he’s so HOT that when he gets the Sun, he’ll instantly catch it on fire again because how HOTTTTTTT HE IS, so the sun will be back to its burning ways and I WILL DREAM OF CILLIAN. ❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥💀 I just realized, if he went to the sun, he would actually be TOO HOT, because well, he is REALLLY REALLY HOT, so that will make the sun burn super duper bright causing the earth to explode. But hopefully Cillian will only take ME into space to avoid dying or something 🎉😂😂❤ CILLIAN IS HOT. THAT IS BASICALLY THE PLOT OF THE MOVIE. 💀

@crossbearer64534 жыл бұрын
Sojourno you are a true Christian. Keep it up But in a more serious note:one of the scientists who worked on the movie was Professor Brian Cox,infact Cillian’s character is a sort of adaptation of him...and Cillian spoke to these scientists before becoming an atheist,yet anytime Professor Brian Cox or even Neil Degrasse Tyson is asked on the existence of God. What they say mostly translates to “science can’t prove He exists but it also can’t prove He doesn’t exist”. So maybe Cillian just didn’t want him to exist and wanted any reason he could get to justify that..
