Mashaba made his fortune off products aimed at black people, time to give back. How much money has he donated to fix infrastructure in the Townships?. Why should rate and taxpayers have to take a back seat to the townships. How much do they contribute to their own area. Easy to hold out the hand and make demands, do they pay for the water that they are demanding, do they pay for the sewerage and refuse removal, how about electricity, which everybody wants but nobody pays for? Poverty gives nobody the right to take the food out of somebody elses mouth. If that sounds harsh, stand in the queue on SASSA day and see what goes into trollies.

Mike's robust questioning is precisely what's needed to get to the truth. Cilliers, unfortunately, is probably going to be a casualty of the political dynamics between the DA, ANC, and ActionSA. What happens at national and provincial level has a definite influence at local government level. If the ANC does form the coalition agreement with ActionSA and the EFF in Tshwane, it will not bode well for the future of the GNU. It leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth to hear Cilliers say that the DA may strategically withdraw from other coalitions and potentially leave other municipalities at the mercy of the EFF. Unfortunately, a picture is emerging of all of our politicians playing a "Game of Thrones" style of politics where it's all about who has enough power to control budgets, tenders, loans, contracts, employment, etc. These narratives of "Moonshot Pacts" and "Doomsday Coalitions" should be viewed with circumspection. One party's Moonshot Pact is another's Doomsday Coalition.

You need to pay more attention as to why the DA cannot afford to go into a government without a signed agreement. The DA is blamed for everything that has gone wrong in Tshwane before this current majority coalition. It does not serve the DA nor residents for the DA to have a mayor in place, without a majority together with an acceptable agreement. 'Coalition' MMCs, councilors and opposition will be out to destroy the DA brand name. The long term loss will be far worse than if it were just the ANC or EFF trashing the place. Action SA has proved to be treacherous and opportunistic in removing the DA in Jhb, Ekhuhurleni and Tshwane. Did you forget about Bongani Baloyi revelations where each party (including EFF) would get a mayor in each of the metros. And here you are yet again again blaming the DA. Those green tinted glasses look awful on you.

Athol Trollip is one I am MOST disappointed in. Disclaimer: I don't like the DA ONE BIT - never voted for them and never will BUT one can't take everyone in the party as the same. I have admiration for Chris Pappas and Cilliers Brink (and here in Nelson Mandela Bay former mayor Retief Odendaal). Yesterday on this channel he tried to justify what ActionSA are going to do. YET - Even he mentioned it - back in 2018 he was ousted from this metro as mayor and after that this place went to pieces with over 5 mayors with only ONE election cycle (2021). One would think Athol would not give leave for this and if he wouldn't get his way within the party he'd leave. But no - he is justifying it. I had hopes always for Herman Mashaba and Michael Beaumont and in 2021 I thought this is potentially a party that can get that massive chunk of the black vote that the DA just will never get and possibly by 2024 we could have had ANC, EFF (and MK) completely out of the Union Buildings. It never materialised and now since the elections - Herman has gone back on his word ("Over my dead body will I work with that criminal organisation the ANC"). Well - the whole lot can go to hell. Perhaps Athol Trollip will eventually see the sense in this and leave that party. Heavily disappointed in him - always had the utmost respect for the man

@@mikesham3204 No ,it's not hypocrisy of the DA. The DA went into a coalition with the ANC to keep out the EFF and MK which would have been disastrous for SA. Their first choice was to remove the ANC completely with the MPC but that didn't work out so they went for plan B. ASA/Mashaba is supporting the ANC (I can't help feeling this is all Mashaba and doesn't have broad support of ASA ) , along with the EFF to get rid of the DA in Tshwane , despite Brink doing a good job. DA took over from ANC in Tshwane in 2016 with a budget deficit to a surplace in one year. Before, the ANC had absolute power for 22 years and were voted out because of poor service delivery and corruption. The DA had to have a coalition for 8 years to fix the mess left behind which is not enough time. The DA has absolute power in Cape Town and doing a fantastic job hence the mass migration to this city. The voters of Tshwane must give absolute power to allow DA to fix the city and not have interference from a coalition.
