I bought mine in 2013, it was the high gloss finish. Cimarron had Fords in Florida do both the High Gloss & the Nickel at that time. My gun has been reliable, and the Ford's finish has been very durable. I have never used the 8 round Mec-Gar that came with the gun. I have used only my 7 round Mag's of different manufacture. My gun is 10 years old and was purchased for Wild Bunch SASS shooting.

After carrying a six gun in the U.S. Border Patrol 30+ years a standard 1911 seems kinda nice. Col. Jeff Cooper used to say, "High capacity 9mm semi-autos are great if one plans to miss a lot."

I bought one of these brand new. After a few trips to the range it starting jamming terribly. It jammed so bad the range master had to take it back into the gunsmith shop to get a round unstuck. I called Cimmaron and they directed me to Rock Island since RI builds them for Cimmaron. I sent it in under warranty and they verified that it jammed. They worked MAGIC on it. When I got it back, it was perfect. It shoots better than any 45 I've ever shot. Smooth, flawless, like butter. I highly recommend the company and the gun. Great customer service and they stand by their warranty.

This looks like a nice pistol. I have heard good and bad about these. But the warranty is worth it if it isn't working properly. I like an A1, but I have had a better experience with an actual 1911.

Ya in my experience it has been excellent. Thanks for the comment!

I would love to put a long trigger on it, a wide hammer, and of course shorten the grip safety. All in the name of making an oringinalish 1911 pre A1. I would get it in a blued finish too. I’d change the safety too.

@chuckythedoll48152 жыл бұрын
The sights are challenging at first, then you take your time and get used to them. It's an accurate gun and it performs well. Can't complain too much for $600. One can always get and change anything easily. It's cast and made in Philippines with colt's original tooling and specs, then sent here to Pahrump NV for assembly. Says it on gun too. She's a neat looking cross between original 1911 and the a1 design. I've owned a lot of guns in my day, this was worth grabbing.
@ryanking15952 жыл бұрын
I think everyone has become so tainted with super duper quality/expensive guns that anything "cheap" must be garbage. Not so. It just has to work. I've had a Rock Island for over a decade and it's amazing! I splurged on a Springfield Armory Operator to have an "updated" one but the RIA works just as good. Now I'm in the market for a GI clone and I think the Cimarron will be my pick.

How many rounds do you think you NEED for a defensive pistol!? This modern fetish for capacity is getting silly. 11 rounds of .45 is VERY likely 8 or 9 rounds more than you'll ever need.
@judoki9993 жыл бұрын

The only thing I hate about the 1911 is the 10 round mags. Cannot conceal that thing, it's like tryna walk around with a boner. I usually keep the flush base mag in and the others for reload. There are alot better options for a 45 now, but nothing beats the aesthetic.
@FirearmFreedom3 жыл бұрын
Oh I completely agree for EDC I find it very hard to find any ability to put it into that role
@jessekaiman51823 жыл бұрын
I been itching for a glock 21. What I do to test function on hollowpoints is just cycle it by hand. I ride the slide and see if it locks up. Figure that's worse case scenario. If it does lock up I see if I can tap it or if racking the slide again feeds it. If it locks up on ball rounds I just sell the gun. Better peace of mind than wasting range time, even moreso now.

To be fair, these were imported by Cimarron specifically for use in Wild Bunch Cowboy Action shooting. It is certainly not meant to be a “real” carry or defense piece.
