Good synths. Sounds more like a good soundtrack to some RPG from early 00-s that was lost in minds of people. It was lonely, grey and foggy, no one remembers it's story, but people loved it. Something like that, idk. Good music always makes me do that, makes stuff in my head.

To me, good dungeon synth should sound like it belongs in an old-school RPG in the first place. It's a top criterion for me. So, nothing wrong with the sentiment.

Along with what Gilardes mentioned, I think that another aspect of good dungeon synth is what you said, Fooxid. The best of the genre creates in my head stories that were never told, but at the same time feel real through the melody. Real, but forgotten and forever obscured by years, only the be recalled dimly through vague dreams and wandering thoughts.

@@ardgwatlol "Stories long forgotten never told". That's because they made society like that. Only left-brain logic, reason etc. No mythos. So they need to make games and music to feed the other part otherwise people would go crazy.

@@bojanorevic1254 Wheel of Time was extremely boring and dragged out in comparison when I tried reading it a few years ago, but I plan on going back to it sometime within the next year to give it another chance. I made it halfway through the Great Hunt before quitting. Hope I like it more the next time around. My feelings on traditional fantasy has become more positive over the years. I used to only enjoy grimdark stuff.

This music got my attention, similar to the first time I heard the 1977 film Sorcerer and the fantastic soundtrack from Tangerine Dream. It just takes you to a place that doesn't exist, yet somehow feels familiar to you at the same time.
