There is a saying, "Strict parents raise sneaky kids". Personally, my dad is chill but I have classmates who have extremely strict parents and they lie and sneak off a lot. I think it is always important to have an honest, balanced relationship with your kids. In my opinion, it's the parent's job to trust and not overly control the teens, but it's the teen's job to build the trust over several years.

My mom was not strict at all, and I did a lot of stupid shit but I also told her everything. Literally EVERYTHING

I love what you all said about grades in school and that they aren't that important compared to other things like mental health and such. I grew up being absolutely terrified of telling my dad about a bad grade and I wasn't the smartest kid in my class so it was a frequent experience for me

May I contribute? ok 😂 I had my first date when I was 13, and it went exactly as you'd imagine a date between two 13 year olds would go; we watched The Lorax, we walked around the mall and there was a lot of uncomfortable silence. My mom picked me up and we talked on facebook chat after we both went home. Do I think it's an appropriate date for dating? Hell no, but do I think it was a valuable experience? YES! Of course at that age you don't really know what's going on, (I didn't even know what was going on when I was dating at 22, ok?) but I think it's important for young teens to have safe and innocent experiences like these so they don't feel so lost and impatient when they're a little older. It's ok to have a taste of the world when you're young because depriving teens of it is EXACTLY what leads them to seek it in the wrong places and end up being lead astray or stuck somewhere they shouldn't be in.

Love the homeschool outtake. Grades are silly. My kids were the smartest at one place and then moved to. Different state and my older one suddenly wasn’t “as smart”. He was just as smart but a lot of those kids were beyond their grade level. It hurt his self esteem and did affect his grades. If I had a do over I would home school. At least during grade school.

Hello Cimorelli Sisters! I would like to tell that Amy is really looking like Rachel, Lauren is really looking pretty cute, Katherine is looking younger, as like before she having twin kids, and the Christina's daughter is really looking innocently cute. I'm really agree with this, also I liked this episode of parenting techniques :)

I get the buddy system and not wanting your kid to go to a party alone but i think that saying your kid can only go to parties with a “trusted” friend/sibling/cousin implies that you don’t trust your own kid
@MariamShaaban92 жыл бұрын
It's not about not trusting your kid, because if they had terrible friends, they could go with them to the party then ditch them there and go somewhere else, which happens often.

Grades: I didn’t get the best grades in school. I had learning difficulties. I worked hard and that was enough for my parents. I also don’t think rewarding kids for good grades is good. School is your job, and you’re expected to do your best

my step daughter is 14. i wish she would wanna do sleepovers and hang out with friends and go out lol. she is very much isolated. but introversion is not a bad thing. it just has a bad stigma. she’s an introvert. but i worry about it. even tho she’s ok with it.

Some extra curricula require good grades to participate in. College is expensive... and many people do not qualify for scholarships unless your grades are good as well. Then you must also maintain the grades to keep the scholarships. The number of kids also multiplies that. So there is indeed pressure to do well in school. Also, what if your kid wants to go out of state? That is more expensive. Kids also do not look very far into the future in general and do not realize the impacts of their actions can have life long consequences. The belief that your kid can or will get scholarships is a bit entitled. 🤔

i feel like they have a different opinion cuz none of them needed college to be able to be financially stable. they come from a family of money so their kids probably won’t have to go to college if they don’t want to

Wait until they're 2.5yrs old and skip naps all together. The attitude from being tired but refusing to nap is unREAL!! It is nice cuz then they sleep so hard at night though but wow...its brutal. I'm in that flop era right now with my 2.5yr old. She will be 3 in March and her baby brother will be here in February... so momma is tired from the pregnancy fatigue and she refuses to nap. It's insanity. Lord help me.
