WE LOVE YOU GUYS :D
WHO WE ARE:
We are Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy, and Lauren Cimorelli, 5 sisters originally from Northern California who are now based in Nashville, TN. We grew up singing in a big family of 11 children and our mom, a classical pianist, taught us to sing in harmony when we were kids. We got our start in musical theatre productions, doing classical pieces in the church choir and performing barbershop harmonies at nursing homes for the elderly (back then our grandma was our agent).
In 2009, when Christina was 18 years old and Lauren was 10 years old, we posted a cover of us singing Party In The USA that ended up going viral. From that video, we were discovered by a manager in London, and shortly after signed with Universal Music Group under Island Records. We moved to Los Angeles in 2010, where we lived and worked in the L.A. pop music world for 5 years, before getting extremely burnt out. We realized a major label deal wasn’t for us, left our label and moved to Nashville, TN, looking for a new start. In 2015, we officially became Nashville-based, independent artists.
Since then, we have written and released 5 albums of original music, toured all over the U.S., South America, and Europe, performed at festivals in Germany, Spain and the Philippines, wrote a book, Believe In You: Big Sister Stories and Advice on Living Your Best Life, started a podcast (The Cimorelli Podcast) and reached over 1 billion views on our KZbin channel. Currently, the 5 of us sisters are embarking on new journeys of marriage and starting our own families (Christina, Katherine and Lisa), and figuring out life as twenty-somethings (Lauren and Amy).
Our goal with our KZbin channel is to constantly challenge ourselves to grow creatively, and to make videos and music that is positive, uplifting and innovative. Our Christian faith guides our decisions, and we will always create content that is family friendly, while not being afraid to touch on topics that we believe are important, such as mental health and personal growth. Thank you for being here, and for being a part of our amazing supporters, the Cim Fam!

Thank you for doing this 😊 it’s crazy how much this little device can effect us in such a huge way. My mind is a mess right now and based on your experience with this, it might be just what I need because I also use it as a way to not deal. …Thanks again for all the great insight🥰 Happy to see how positive it effected/helped you all.

"Do you control your device, or does your device control you?" Someone intelligent said this. I've been going spells without my phone as of late (grocery shopping unless i have screenshots of vouchers. I leave it at home, watching TV, and it's charging out of immediate reach, I leave it out of reach so I have to get out of bed to turn my alarm off) there's more I can do but I've found these helping restore concentration to a degree. I believe in you to succeed

Yep… I think I’m gonna do this as well. It is scary, it means I’ll have no more distractions to keep me away from my responsibilities. I don’t even know if I have the courage, I’ve got shows that I don’t want to give up on just yet… Ugh!!! I’m missing the days I wasn’t addicted to screens, things have become too difficult.

@@declangill5138Social media is all about who can get the most attention. I saw a documentary some time ago that made it very clear that the jobs of most people in charge of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok kind of stuff was to keep people on their phone (or their app more specifically, I guess the more people you’ve got spending time on your app, the more money you’ll make). Like notifications, they’re made to bring you back to your phone as soon as you hear “oh you’ve got a new comment!”. They also tailor make their feed so it’s harder for you to get away (because what they’re showing you is everything you wanted to see). To do that they have so many techniques (see how much time you take to look at a post, listen to your microphone, etc.). So yeah, “Do you control your device, or does it control you?” becomes a pretty easy question.

I appreciate you ladies doing a challenge like this. I've been off of social media for going on 4 years now and now I live my life like it never took over my teenage years. I love to play with my daughter, read, write, paint, any kind of arts and crafts, I learned how to exercise for my body properly, Im learning my behavior patters, I'm learning what lessons keep repeating themselves in my life, im learning my triggers the list can go on, ultimately I'm learning how to be a human being and not a human doing ❤

One thing that surprised me is that they listened to so much podcasts that they stopped listening to music. I may just be obsessed with music because there are one or two podcasts that I really like listening to but it would take me several days to get through an one hour show because I would keep switching to music 😃 Also, like Kath said, it is important to have a balance of what you are consuming vs creating! This is the exact thought that made me realise I am consuming too much media but not creating anything. One tip I have is to set time limits on social media apps on your phone, which is a feature available on most phones!

I love this. I remember once being super addicted to fb. I did a month-long fast from it. When I came back, I deleted all of the notifications and I never have been as obsessed with checking all of the notifications since. It was awesome. My most powerful fast was a week when I couldn't do any social media including YT, except posting my finished things on IG and posting my YT videos. I am amazed at how often I use YT to avoid being alone with my thoughts. I don't think that eliminating social media permanently is necessary and yet I do think we need more balance as a people. More intentional in use and more intentional in taking time off. Even podcasts. Picking a favorite or two and being intentional about the time listening to them could be powerful. I have been doing no FB on Sundays for a few years now. I think I need to up that game. I tend to put YT videos on while I am crocheting and knitting on Sundays. I am committing to a change. There are a couple of religious videos I would like to partake of, otherwise no YT on Sundays from now on. I also have a really hard thing happening right now. I think after I send this comment and share this video on FB, I'll be taking an 8 day fast. I'll be off socials until Aug 7th. I think I'll do the no movies, unless with my kids, and no books except scriptures. I want time alone with my thoughts and time for prayer. Music is ok but I also want to be intentional about that as well. Thank you!

To anyone who needs to hear this: don’t blame yourself too much for finding it hard to get off your screens, especially off social media. Sure you’ve got a big role to play in all of that but social media has their fair bit of tactics to keep you on their apps. I watched a documentary some time ago that made it very clear that the jobs of most people in charge of Instagram, Facebook and TikTok kind of stuff was to keep people on their phone (or their app more specifically, I guess the more people you’ve got spending time on your app, the more money you’ll make). Like notifications, they’re made to bring you back to your phone as soon as you hear “oh you’ve got a new comment!”. They also tailor make their feed so it’s harder for you to get away (because what they’re showing you is exactly what you wanted to see). To do that they have so many techniques and tactics (they see how much time you take to look at a post, listen to your microphone, etc.), it’s quite concerning.

The technology fast is tough for sure but you do connect more with the world and the people you love when you aren’t watching or scrolling. We did this for two weeks in our church and it is an intentional effort not to mindlessly scroll or look to technology to fill time. It helps your spiritual growth when you put God before everything else, which is obvious.

this is so interesting because my church recently did a month long phone fast and i didn't take part in it but i heard similar things. your testimonies are making me consider taking breaks for at least a few hours/days to see how it goes. i just moved to TN and have no friends here so the only way i find connection right now is through social media, which makes me more reluctant to give it up. i'm wondering how it will be for y'all moving forward since social media is a part of your job?

This might sound bad but I can't even last a day without my phone like IDK what it is lol. Like social media is very toxic like you get caught up on comparing yourself and it is so unhealthy and it effects you mentally. Like I have done this before and that is not going on social media for like a month and see where I was and it literally changed my life and it was recommended by my Therapist. I'm telling you now I do things that takes care of my anxiety and that is one of them and how to learn to cope with it. See I'm 22 and I am young and I have so much time on figuring out what life has in store for me. Like I have been active with my Church and going to the Young Adults service and it actually changed my life like I'm going out there and making friends who is serving to God. I have been the happiest person lately by doing stuff like that and being back and doing things with my family. For instance my sister in law is pregnant with her 2nd child and she is due in October.
