Researchers at the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center incorporated a week-long "therapy-based" camp for children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy into a multi-modal assessment of Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy, "CIMT". Each child received a cast on their "strong" arm for one week, necessitating the use of their "weaker" arm. Throughout the week, with the support and encouragement of therapists, volunteers, and ten other peers undergoing the same "constraint" therapy with casts, the children participated in activities aimed at strengthening their less-functional arm and improving their sensory abilities on the side of their body that they usually do not utilize.
This video highlights some of the activities and images of the week-long camp held at the Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital outpatient rehabilitation facility at 100 Oaks.
