Not sophisticated. It’s motion pre-snap to read the coverage. if it’s zone then find soft spaces and utilize Kelce on the curl/seam option routes as safety net , if not there then dish it to the check downs. If it’s man to man, Maholmes first read is whoever is one-on-one and if nothings there, use legs to buy time and see if anyone breaks off their routes to get open.
@youngmyth11 ай бұрын
@@PrinceK2007thank you for explaining that. Really cool. Surely some more complexity than that tho?
@PrinceK200711 ай бұрын
@@youngmyth thanks! That’s the basic breakdown of the Chiefs. Of course they add wrinkles here and there with fake handoffs, screens, and double moves on the routes to throw off opponents but that’s the basics of Andy Reid’s play calling. When Maholmes improvises with his feet and he passes at the last second once the coverage breaks down is where most of the big plays you see comes from. But when you look at the actual play designs and initial reads, it’s basically what I mentioned.

And the one year Brady had to face another 12 win team, he didn't win the division. . The Brady/Patriots, the only team with a longer streak only faced one team(in their division) during those 11 years that won 11 games. There is your "weak division" . Obviously, the Chiefs have to play a first place schedule every year, so not a "weak schedule" and, since week two of Mahomes first year as a starter the Chiefs play in every other teams biggest game of the year. It's tough when every other team plays you like it is their Super Bowl. When you have a 17 game schedule with teams throwing the kitchen sink at you, it's tough to win consistently. Proven by the fact only one other team in NFL history has been able to do what the Chiefs have. . Six of the eight NFL divisions have between 30 and 33 wins, including the AFC West, East and South, along with the NFC East, North and West, the only two outside that range are the NFC South with 25 wins and the AFC North with 41, those are the best and worst THIS YEAR, but that changes from year to year, it certainly has over the EIGHT years the Chiefs have won their division.
