Cincinnati, Ohio Trains 1990

Taken March 28, 1990. Locations include NA Tower, Hopple St., Erlanger, and Mill Creek. CSX, NS, Conrail and Grand Trunk.

This was the early stages of the line being reborn, captured at the videos beginning. In the 70's, only 6 or 7 trains a day traverse thru. In today's directional running, the numbers are close to 4or5 an hour. Sadly, many railroad structures shown here, are only memories today.

Erlanger station looks like it must have been moved closer to the road. Today there is a lot of space between it and the tracks. That's weird seeing how close it is to the tracks in this video. Love the Grand Trunk engines!

If memory serves me, that was the lead track to the N&W Berry Yard. The bridge came down in the early 2000's.

GenXRailMedia That bridge was near the southern border of Elmwood Place. It crossed Vine Street where the car was is in Elmwood. It wasn't used for about 20 years due to arson.

Grew up in Cincinnati and was filming Cincy railroads myself when I would visit home in the early to late 90's. My dad worked for the N&W and then NS, Clare and Berry yards in Cincinnati. Great stuff!

NA and GK (East Norwood) towers were still in operation at this time. I remember the GT locomotive coming through Springfield on the old DT&I. Used to be quite a number of trains on that in the 80's and early 90's.

Does anyone know what all the action is with the GTW in Erlanger? And if they still run the Norfolk Southern double main through Sharonville, West Chester and on through Middletown to Columbus? I used to see them all the time on that main.

While I can't answer your first question, NS does use the line through Sharonville, etc. today.
