That is the worst, even more so when the person isn't there and they have to call them. I went to one last year that had boxes full of vintage video game systems and a bunch of games for each one and the lady had no idea how much they were and tried calling her son, who they belonged to and he didn't answer so she wouldn't sell them to me.

For me, estate sales on the first day are about digging to see what they missed. For instance, on the first day I was digging through a tote full of costume jewelry ziplock bags priced at $5 each. I saw a bee diamond and ruby brooch in one and bought it - turned out 14K gold and real diamonds and rubies. The estate company missed the 14K marking. Sold for $420.00. Another time digging again through the jewelry piles saw a beat up gold pocketwatch, priced at $35.00. I opened the back and saw 9K gold marking and later found it was made in 1876. Bought it and sold for $480.00. So I agree with you that first day estate sale is overall very overpriced and crowded, but the potential for a huge score is always there. I think first day estate sales come down to your mentality - Are you a treasure hunter? Or are you looking to fill your truck with sellable stuff?
@jimsjamzjunk4442
@jimsjamzjunk4442 5 жыл бұрын
Agreed SS. First day is for finding the treasures that particular company doesn't value highly. Just bought a collection of 200 Rock & Roll LPs on the first day for $1 each that I'll sell in my booth for $5 - $20 each. :)

I find my best stuff at estate sales especially in your big homes. They can't get to every area of the house so if I see alot of stuff in the pictures I'm all over it. I would recommend to hit back of closets anywhere you have to move things out of the way for. Example last week I went to one on the second day which probably already had 300 people easy already go thru the place found top shelf under old bed sheets a king set of Sheets of the Ralph Lauren Polo Bear Sheets full set $4 bucks. Sold them for $140 24 hrs on eBay. Bonus found two Disney vintage jackets both sell between $50 to $150. Paid $12 for all of it.

I did go to my first estate sale yesterday. VERY expensive home with super nice stuff. Far beyond what I could pay. ut I DID find a brand new dehumidifier still in box. Worth 238 bucks. I bought it for 30. but yeah I doubt i will go to many estate sales.

Just now subscribed. It's great to finally find a picker who is level headed (as opposed to a screeching freak) and knows a great deal when he sees it. Also, one who sells on eBay and pretty much knows the value of his finds. I too sell on eBay but strictly motorcycle parts in 'Motors'. Most of what I sell is NOS (new, old stock) metric parts as well as very good condition used. I recently bought a dozen new, old stock helmets in their boxes, many are name brand MX and street. I've tried to sell them $40-$50 at swap meets but it isn't going well. Shark? Never heard of them. Bell is an excellent brand. I paid $10 each for them and then discovered that they have an expiration date. If they're more than 5 or 6 years old they become unsellable at cycle dealers. My own MX and street helmets are over 10 years old and are just fine so no worries. It's a thrill to see the goodies at yard sales in your part of the country. It's rather boring here in farm country Iowa. I live on a farm with over 700 cycles (salvage yard). Sometimes I'll hit the sales in the big city of Sioux Falls, SD only 40 miles away. MUCH better odd stuff there! Your videos are fun to watch and thanks for the heads up on what to look for.

In our area I only go to estate sales on the last day when everything is 50% off. For me it seems like the posted prices are what you find online so your best resale opportunity is to wait and pick through what’s left on the 50 off day. Estate sales are not my main source of resale and most of the time I go just to see the architecture in the old homes so if I find something to sell it’s a bonus.

I do well at estate sales. You just have to be willing to spend more at these sales. Usually, the items are more vintage or of better quality but if you are out at yard sales it's hard to want to spend more. But, I can go buy 50 items at an estate sale but only find 5 at a garage sale. It just always depends on the sale though.

My best advice on estate sales is choose your targeted generation carefully, as far as finding collectables goes. And that of course depends on what you're looking for. However, choosing what generation the sellers are a part of, would be a major part of what criteria I usually try to bear in mind when searching.

People at s certain age, tend to gradually reassess the reality of our mortality and know that they have to sadly let go of memories etc. The next sad stage is loosing their homes where their life time memories were made. They cannot take much with them. Then they wind up in hospice and palliative care and cant take anything with them apart from direct essentials. When people buy from those who are traveling a few more steps 🚶‍♂️ before us, you are helping them in so very many ways. So thank you so much more than euros can say.

Auctions are the way to go here in the Midwest. Yard sales are hit & miss. Estate sales, no. I see those exercise bikes and nice treadmills going for $1-$2 every single week because people don't want to haul them away. Yah, you have to come back at the end if you want to pull up your truck, but in that time you can load up on boxes and boxes of stuff for a buck a piece. And then cherry-pick all the stuff people left behind. (trust me, you are doing the sellers a favor!)

If you really want to make money on sewing machines look for the old Singer Featherweight 221. Normally they come in a black carrying and at garage sales they might go for as much as $100 but usually more like $50 and if they don't know what they have they'll sell them for $5 to $10 and you can EASILY sell them for $300 or more if the case is good and the machine decals are nice. If you hit the sewing machine lottery and find a featherweight 222 with the free arm they start at 1k and go up from there to about 3k if it's in great condition. The Singer Meritt you got isn't worth much at all, you will be lucky to get $20 and only if there's accessories and the machine works.

I know that one estate sales company in our town is being sued by multiple families. They have been around here for probably 30 or 40 years. They over price items that they want to keep and/or put "sold" on items that they want..... There are many things that they are doing that are really screwing the families over. It's just really sad.

John, Go to an Estate Sale on the last day. Usually a Sunday. Last days are discounted. So a percentage off price. Of course many have been cleaned out on their last day, but I’ve found stuff looked over. It’s always vintage electronics and dvd/vcr combos. Sometimes they’re untested though so you get duds. They’ll tell you if it’s untested so you’re taking a risk. Well… the ones I’ve been to. Also Shadjuice isn’t a video game specialist. I am.

Nice picks on the Nak deck and the Yamaha Turntable. If the tape deck is fully functional, it'll fetch decent money - but they have a tendency to get taken out of systems when they need new belts and/or idler wheels. I had found a Yamaha 211 turntable and I had to fix the motor mount - there was only one screw in place (and it supposed to have 2 or 3 - I don't recall). Anyway, the speed can be wonky if the motor mounting screws are loose or missing. The loose black piece on the platter is a HEADSHELL (in your case it was an Audio Technica) - then the needle (STYLUS) mounts into the CARTRIDGE, which is attached to the head shell. I would also advise to pick up graphic equalizers when you see them - ESPECIALLY the ones with the spectrum anaylizers in them (the dancing lights). I may be wrong, but it looked like the one you passed on was a BSR EQ-3000, which goes for decent money and is a decent EQ. At the yard sale where you bought the boombox, there was a stack of cassettes right next to it. Despite what you may think, high quality tapes are in great demand to collectors. Even if they are unsealed and already recorded on - the brands to look for are Maxell, TDK, Denon, BASF, and Nakamichi (among others). What might cost you a dime or a quarter at a yard sale can be flipped for good money, with metal (type IV tapes) going well into double digit dollars PER TAPE. Have fun out there. Like your videos.

I noticed in one of your other videos you purchased an Easton Redline Softball Bat.!! Anytime I find those I just think CHAAA CHING $$$$$!!! I also work at a play it again sports, and I’m the baseball guru! I found an OG Easton Z2K at a yard sale, for $5! which is like the holy grail of bats, anywhere from $300-$1000. Totally illegal bat as most bats are that are 10-15+ years old because of rule changes. But I don’t ask questions! Lol, I sold mine for $650 and it was listed for 10 minutes! Still hoping I find one again one day! It’s not hard work, and the money just flows in! Especially on really good days! I dig what you do, keep up the hard work, I just found your eBay channel, looking forward to new stuff popping up!

No point. Almost impossible to get it working again after it's been drowned. Electronics don't like being immersed in water dude. Even if you dry it out and it miraculously works it will soon start corroding and die again very shortly.

as a general rule, I don't buy motorcycle helmets these days Had one new in the box that took forever to sell then it didn't get there and came back on an international sale...so I was out the expensive international shipping, and had to refund the buyer everything.I pretty much quit international sales too.

That’s too funny, it’s interesting to see what sells in different regions. Things like the old exercise bike and the speakers/radios you literally can’t give away here.

I work with estates all the time I think it's funny how some people think things are worth more than they are because they have sentimental value. But yeah I'd stay away from estate sales, most of the time they are not worth it! Love your videos and hustle!!!

Just subscribed and what an awesome channel!! You need to lease a cargo van and find a good place to rent for storsge.....lol. What amazes me is all of the stuff people accumulate over the years. I am currently a retired senior and it is weird when you reach this point in your life, sometimes you look at your belongings and want it gone. The even crazier part is when you start rummaging through your stuff and do not even remember having it.......lol. But, at times you will find something and it will bring back some nice memories. Best of luck and keep up the hard work.

I do great at estate sales! Always go 2-3 hours early and grab a number or throw a bag on the ground with your name on it to have your spot in line! I did recently go to a sketchy one though they said they’d bring a desk outside for us by the next morning, so we paid, showed up and they hadn’t moved it out of the house and said “that’s the way it works”. No refund either. 🙄 but take a bag with you to throw on the ground!

If you can ever find it. There’s this one Japanese horror game for the PS2. If you find it with the seal broken, but it has the game in it, it can go for $500-$750 on eBay. If it’s sealed, it can be sold for up to $1,000
