Okay, THIS scene gives us a good explanation of why Ella was willing to stay in that attic. It was because she wanted to keep Kit safe and away from the controlling hands of her stepmother. This makes her so much bigger and stronger in my eyes. That girl had some courage! I hope Disney does put these scenes in the film! They truly add to the story! Thank you for putting this up!

Claire Mitzuki true but I got that same conclusion even without this scene, to me is a sad very sad scene but changed nothing in the sense of the film.
It did change something for me actually... when I first watched the movie I was disappointed that she only found the courage to stick up for herself when the captain and duke and everyone else were at their house... this shows that she was more proactive than I first thought she was
@alexandersmith47313 жыл бұрын
It's kinda silly at the same time too, I mean why does she thinks her stepmother can control the Prince exactly? She's not exactly the most influential person, she has a wobbly reputation at best, does she thinks just cause Kit don't have a mom he can be controlled by any random older female figure like she does?

This scene really should have been in the film, even without any of the other deleted scenes. There was something of a plot hole in the way the aftermath of the ball was presented in the final cut - why wouldn't she even attempt to make herself known later; almost going so far as to hide? Here she does make an attempt; while still observing the proper decorum given the class disparity between the two. It also underscores the Grand Duke as an antagonist when he is illegally intercepting and destroying a private letter to the Prince.

Although the Civil Warlike th Tudor war of roses or cousin's war, was usually resolved by cousin's marrying each other. Or princes marrying other county's princesses for political unions, against the other countries they were fighting agaisnt. And age was up in the air, also it was only a political marriage. In this case, marrying a cousin wouldn't work in a fairytale like Cinderella. Maybe the reason the king needs him to get married is bc if he doesn't have heirs is thr same reason HenryVIII was afraid. If he doesn't have a heir, the kingdom might not accept a prince without heirs(he can lead without just the council and grandfather). That would mean the prince's leper cousins who are his automatic heir(if he doesnt have a strong heir) claimant could try to cause trouble and plot. And the kingdom won't accept lepers as sovereigns. And there would be war between them. The king knows the prince doesn't just want a heir and a queen consort, that's just for the kingdom politics. He wants to marry for love

While I agree this should have been kept in the movie, I also see a lot of people who are saying "she just stayed in the attic and was so passive and she never tried to go see the prince" but you guys forget; her stepmother told her that the prince was already engaged. The moment she found out the prince would marry the "mystery princess," she went home as fast as she could to grab her slipper as proof. Her stepmother smashed it, locked her up and told the Grand Duke in exchange for advantageous marriages for her daughter. And when the prince did arrive, as her godmother notes; she wasnt even aware. How is she supposed to take advantage if a situation she has no idea is happening? And to top it all off, how was she supposed to get out? And if she doesn't know her prince is there, why try to get out?

Yes! I honestly LOVED the moment where Ella decides to stay away in order to keep the stepmother's influence away from Kit - mainly because it reminds me so strongly of the climax to the original novel version of Ella Enchanted. I know the movie has a big dramatic moment with the dagger and everything, but in the book it's literally just Ella fighting with her gift inside of her head because her family commands her to accept Char's proposal for all the wrong reasons, and she knows she is basically a weapon against the kingdom in theirs or anyone else's hands, whilst still under the fairy's curse. The exchange from this movie is pretty much the exact same thing only with that particular bit of magic removed, and it makes me so happy, because it turns that knowledge of what's right and determination to stick to it, into a 'Cinderella' personality trait - not only in scenarios where magic gets directly involved, but in ones that could almost be happening in the real world too (after all, Kit and Ella initially fell for each other without any need for pumpkin carriages or fairy-made ballgowns).

I much prefer this over the live action version of Beauty and the Beast. This movie captures the Disney magic and has excellent storytelling and a great cast. Lily as an actress showed more talent and professionalism in her turn as a Disney princess than Emma. I just wish this scene wasn't deleted from the movie because it would've showed that Cinderella made an effort to be with her prince.

I agree too, this was a fresh retelling of Cinderella that contained its own magic and charm. Beauty and the Beast took everything from the original movie and gave it to us all the same, it wasnt its own thing. Emma Watson is beautiful, but she didnt fit the role. Emma Watson is amazing. But she doesn’t give off the “beauty” in the words Beauty and the Beast. Emma Watson’s role and portrayal was rather awkward to the whole movie. She’s a French National yet speaks with a British accent. And there’s key moments in the movie that really says “WE IN FRANCE” yet she speaks with a British accent. Such a miscasting. And the whole movie was actually musical!!! THEY ACTUALLY JUST REDID THE WHOLE ANIMATED MOVIE AND TURNED IT INTO A MUSICAL. They should’ve stuck to what Cinderella did and made a magical retelling. They just redid the whole movie and casted awkward people everywhere. I honestly don’t know what they were thinking with that movie. When I heard the movie was coming I was hoping to see a real French accent and beautiful French woman. But we got a young woman who doesn’t give off an air of maturity. Emma Watson is amazing. Why didn't they keep this? This makes her decision to stay in the attic more understandable (not necessarily a good excuse to give up, but it AT LEAST gives us some reason for her actions... Or lack there of). I've always give the animated Cinderella some slack as I don't think she's quite as passive as most make her out to be. I thought this new version was actually far more passive, especially towards the end. But this scene makes the character somewhat more relatable and I think it was a mistake to leave it out.

I dont get why everyone is so butthurt about cinderella just giving up. That was her act of love- to be imprisoned for as long as she lives, knowing that Kit is safe from her stepmother. Would she rather reach out to Kit and give her stepmother what she wants? Ella has seen, firsthand, what her sm could do. Is she gonna take the risk and see her repeat her actions towards Kit and the kingdom? But that doesnt mean she didn't fight for kit bc she did. She fought for his safety and I personally think that makes her an even stronger character. So selfless and full of love. Strong doesnt always equal to physical fights people. THANK YOU!!! FINALLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS OF THE MOVIE BEING HORRIBLE and Emma not being good enough as Belle! Your words are exactly what I thought when I saw the Live action of BatB and wondered why it wasn't like Cinderella. Sure they added some depth to Le Fous character and some history on what happened to Belles mom but tbh it was kind of boring...
@diorshazee4 жыл бұрын
So let me get this straight, Emma Watson was speaking with a British accent but the original it was an American accent and Britain is much near to France than America, so you cannot dis the fact she sounded more like British than the original as an American accent, yes they didn’t do the yellow dress justice, but that’s your only excuse. Me and my Family loved the movie and everybody in the cinema did as well, so even though it wasn’t an ‘French accent’ why wouldn’t you say that about the original’s American accent. Of course and the yellow dress, they could of made it better yes, but just think that they could of not done it the iconic yellow to resemble Belle was beast’s light when in the dark, think about that, and when they were filming the beauty and the beast singing, Emma had a sore throat so she couldn’t sing as well as she usually did. So before you go off dissing somebody else’s acting and comparing it to somebody else’s think are you as good as Emma or Lily? I surely think not because I’ve never heard of you and nobody around here probably has either.
@diorshazee4 жыл бұрын
Larraine Santos, Cinderella is nothing alike to BatB so why should they do it the EXACT same way, yes they could of gotten a French lady to act as Belle, but Emma Watson was perfect with the role, she gave MOST of us tears with her song about her mother and her childhood. And again with the French language as Belle, none of you dissed the original for their American accent as Belle so don’t think you can diss British when it’s even closer to French. And of course Emma can never be good enough as Belle but Belle isn’t real, if she was then I’m sure she would of been like Emma or even worse than Emma. Yes they added her mother’s backstory because loads of us were wondering what was happening and I’m sorry but if you thought that was boring think about YOUR videos, even if you have none, that’s because you diss other people without thinking about yourself. LeFou in the original was just a sidekick like all villains have but in the Live action movie they gave more of a role to LeFou instead of a background character, like we could tell that he was obviously in love with Gaston, and would do anything for him but then near the end he realises Gaston is the bad guy, that was not in the original, in fact we didn’t even see LeFou near the end.

The duke has no right to treat Ella this way and stop the prince from following his dream. Good thing he followed his heart and dream❤❤❤❤

It’s good this scene was deleted, but that “Wake up” from Cate Blanchett is incredible.

This made it more reasonable why the Duke was sent away from the kingdom. I thought it was just because he made a wedding deal and connived with the stepmother. Turned out he lied to Kit’s face holding Cinderella’s letter and the nerve to burn that letter right in front of him.

Ik I’m late to this comment but he also lied to kit in the movie when he promised to “spare no effort” but then trying to get away from lily’s house during the search when there is clearly another person in there

I hate that Grand Duke, Not only for destroying the letter from Cinderella before the Prince reads it, but "having the Prince choose and Marry Princess Chilena" excuse! Grand Duke is jealous that the Prince loves Ella (Cinderella) and Not Princess Chilena like Lady tremaine and daughters' jealousy of Cinderella's charm and beauty! I like the Grand Duke from the 1950 Animated film, he's nicer and better than the one in the live action film!

It should be on the movie 😭😭 And add about the letter found by the prince by some palace servers or guard, or even the captain 😭😍😍

I would've loved to see this. It would've given a great overall feel and positive change to the source material. It also would've given the Duke extra growth as I found his character to be underused. It would also explain why she was so quick to put the night behind her because she didn't. I would've loved to see this. Wouldn't you?

Emma Watson was wonderful as Belle. She sang beautifully and was convincing as the courageous heroine. Lilly James was equally wonderful as Cinderella, kind and hopeful. I loved the remakes of both fairytales.

I like the deleted scene but who ever taught her how to ride needed to teach her to ride with her heals down. That is one thing they taught us at horse camp. I also learned how to jump. You can see it on the picture of her riding the horse.

Great film! Well done. This scene might have been good to add to create more of suspense and intensity

I wouldn't be at all surprised that some time in the future Disney will release another film called 'director's cut' After all it's all about money
