Princess Gaoyang didn't care about anyone except for herself and her beloved monk. Everyone else was simply a pawn/stepping stone to her. Plus, a lot of babies, especially ones from the royal family died back then (either through illness or murder) so she figured a baby dying was just par for the course. GaoYang also figured that she could get away with killing the Princess because the only suspects would be the Empress and Wu Men niang. GaoYang is what you would call a psychopath.

@@hellopeople1409 I never said that what happened in the show was real. My previous statement was about the character's mentality and motives in the drama. There isn't too much known about the actual Princess Gaoyang, except apparently she was the one to visit Wu Zetian when she was a nun and convince her to stop cutting/shaving her hair and dazzle the Emperor, so the actual person could be said to be a bit calculating, just not to the extent of the drama's character.
