But later in The New Prophecy Arc, Cinderpelt died from a badger attack and Sorreltail gave birth to her kits, Cinderheart, Honeyfern, and Poppyfrost, and Cinderpelt relived her life as Cinderheart until she bacame a warrior.

That's an awfully quick assumption. Sure, she had feelings for Firestar, but there was never any indication that they were reciprocated. If she hadn't had her accident most likely nothing would have come of her and Firestar.
