We did batik and tie dye way back in the mid seventies in high school art class. It was so time consuming to do the batik. We also had to design and carve it out of wood first. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

What a lot of work those people do to make those beautiful patterns for us. All my respect for them. It is not so healthy work. Hope for them they get paid enough for there work.

They do a beautiful job. And the dyes are plant based reactive dyes. No harsh chemicals. However oddly… most of them smoke. They are paid more than cab drivers and they say they love their jobs and their employer.

omg isnt that wax too hot and then they burn themselves with it?

It’s not. Just melted and warm. Dries hard in about 15 seconds. They don’t want it so hot it might alter the cotton.

I buy batiks about 90% of the time. Making batiks in my youth is only a taste of real batik.
