For many Christians tithing has become a bondage like the Galatians getting circumcised. No one received the Spirit because they tithed nor will anyone loose the Spirit because they don't tithe. Our giving should be completely led by the Spirit in faith. Instead of tithing one can go to God with every pay check and tell him you have this much money to give, what do you want me to do with it. Wait on the Spirit. Don't be in a rush to give it. He may tell you to pay someone's bills or buy them food. He may tell you to give it to your local church. He may even tell you to bless your enemy by paying for the legal fees of the neighbor who is suing you unjustly. It takes more faith to be led by the Spirit in giving than it does to tithe. Once you stop tithing and let the Spirit lead you in your giving you will enter a new level of freedom most Christians don't experience now. This also allows one to learn the heart of God and to know God experientially.

Amen ! More people need this revelation. People need to open their ears to hear what the spirit of God is saying and know what the word of God says. It’s very clear in the word of God. Love gives to all in need and will help those in need. There’s no point in tithing every Sunday when you can’t even help the many foster children or orphans in your back yard. Or continue to ignore the homeless in your city who need a warm bed , food and a friend. We are called to look after the orphan, feed the poor, help the widow, save the lost and clothe the naked. Jesus summed up these action as perfect love. Both are important.

Humanity would be better off if people had interpreted scripture right on this. It's a big problem cause some churches r rich beyond belief w/ the needy outside walking the sidewalks. If peopel gave 10% to humanity & church prioritized correctly the world would be a much better place. God would rather a needy person get help than a pastor get richer so the congregation can btw have an air of superiority for going to a fancy church. Jesus is gonna set people straight on this one day, that their heart didn't interpret this scripture correctly.
