@willvr4 I personally hate this movie based off a bad first impression. I was like 20 and went to see it in the theater with a group of my friends. We picked it because we thought it would be another Sandler movie like Billy Madison or Little Nicky. None of us were prepared and it absolutely ruined the night. It was the movie equivalent of biting into an apple and it tasting like fish.

It wasn't a dream. I think you just didn't understand it, even with them discussing it directly at the end. The theme of the movie is great. By always looking forward and ignoring the present, when you get to the end there won't be much to remember about the past. Love who you have while you have them.

Kudos to George for tumbling to the fact that "mort" is latin for death. This is one of several films around this time that modify the "It's a Wonderful Life" trope. Another is Jim Belushi's "Mr. Destiny" (1990), although in this case it's more like "It Could Have been a Wonderful Life". I like this one because of the grim turn it takes. And Henry Winkler is magnificent, as usual.

One thing I love about this movie is that it’s basically a modern day version of A Christmas Carol! It’s not one to one, but he changes after seeing his past, present, and future! And we wakes up being friendly to a younger man who he was rude to previously!

I found this from a quick google search. I gotta admit, I got curious about the O'Doyle name. "Adam Sandler is Jewish, as most people know. James O'Doyle was a double agent spying for the Nazis on England during WW2. As Sandler hates Nazis, as we all should, he decided to make the name O'Doyle a villain's last name in his movies. It's mentioned in four of his movies, Billy Madison, Click, Fifty First Dates, and Mr Deeds."

Funny story about this movie. I'm a hospice chaplain. In the community area of a nursing home, two little old ladies were watching this movie. One had to keep explaining to the other what was happening in different scenes. It was classic when she was trying to explain my Adam Sandler was farting on the 'Hoff's face.

My ex-girlfriend's stepfather was a stoic stone-cold commercial fisherman from Newfoundland... and the "I love you, son" scene where Adam Sandler keeps rewinding is the one of the only time that man has ever cried. Turns out that he had a falling out with his own dad, they said some really mean things to each other and swore never to speak to each other again... and this scene utterly broke him. You just don't expect such a heavy scene in an Adam Sandler comedy - so it sneaks up on you.

Hello Simone & George!😊 Prince Habeeboo is Rob Schneider. Michael's 27 year old daughter is Katie Cassidy (Arrow). His 14 year old daughter is Lorraine Nicholson (Jack Nicholson's daughter). The dub actor in the Spanish voice part was Gerardo García, he's Mexican dub actor very famous in all South America, he appears in countless movies and documentaries for real 😊 I find amazing that they chose the real Spanish dubbing team instead of some random Spanish speaking people 😊

That scene with the father absolutely kills me every time. How he didn't appreciate him and was flippant and rude. I had something similar with my mother, so much I wish I would have tried to say and do and apologze for, but she passed at the age of 45 when I was younger, and I'll never have the chance. The regret never leaves, even after years its as heavy as it always was. Words can not express what I would give just to hug her again, or hear her say my name. It's so sad to say I've forgotten her voice. Miss you, mom.

In the Latin-american spanish version of the movie, the scene where they talk in spanish is dubbed in portugese P.S. To make the dad scene more gut wrenching, Adam Sandler's own father passed away some time before shooting that scene, so it was all the more impactful to him and everyone on set.

16:20 I never watched it on Spanish, had to check. In Latin American version he changes the language to Portuguese. Many times in dubbing they take as much care as possible with lip sync, so I guess they chose Portuguese to make it easier.

After the reaction & trivia, I had go back to 18:45 to do my own "repeat" and watch you & George laughing (especially George) to get right again.

this movie is a definite emotional rollercoaster. also, for the longest time, I've always assumed Click was inspired by the R.L. Stine Goosebumps story lol had no idea it was just a coincidence and Adam Sandler was almost sued over it. the Goosebumps story was also one of R.L.Stine's stories that made it onto the TV series too. that's how I know it. it is VERY similar, so I can see why R.L. Stine thought there was some copying done.

This is the only movie that made me cry a bit in the theater because the emotional twist is so unexpected that I just wasn't prepared to have that father/son death moment and it really makes you think about your parents. You guys realise this movie is basically a modern take on Dicken's, A Christmas Carol, with its ghosts of the past, present, and future, right? And Sandler's character as the more likeable version of Ebeneezer Scrooge.
