The thing with the little girl is, her holding the Quantum Physics books, is ACTUALLY a huge tell that something is wrong. It mirrors how K picked out Mikey in the truck full of Spanish-speaking foreigners. My theory with the tests was always that he failed all of them as presented, but passed them in unexpected ways. Before the written test, he calls out Z's non-explanation of why they're there. During the written test, he is the only one who uses the environment to his advantage. During the shooting test he shows restraint and good accuracy. After the shooting test, he demonstrates an eye for details, as well as an ability to come up with a semi-plausible story on the fly (important for using the neuraliser).

By the way, the dog loved it. Performing dogs are trained not only to obey commands, but also to like certain actions in order to get them to provide material for the editor. (Although it works, it does produce a lot of tail-wagging that then has to be dealt with. Thus all the pre-CGI happiness displayed by "murderous wolves" who were having a really fun time.) The pug in this sequence loves to be grabbed and shaken around, and the shots were intercut with Jones looking very angry, so the shaking could go on for a while without giving away the fact that the dog isn't hurt or upset at all.
@ILikeCHEEZ92 жыл бұрын
Just because this distrubed me I looked it up, most of the violent shaking was cgi and a stuffed dog, but there was a real pug he only shook a little bit and they gave him a treat after every shake so he's associating being shaken with happy treats. 5:00 - "Edgar" in his skin suit. Vincent D'Onofrio had recently lost quite a bit of weight, so his skin actually was kinda' loose. This allowed makeup artist Rick Baker a lot of freedom to pull and play with Vincent's real skin with glue, tape, latex, other makeup tricks, to make "Edgar" look as weird and creepy as possible. Theoretically, one might have been able to come up with makeup effects on an average actor, but Vincent's situation made him an ideal candidate. Plus, he's always a great actor: he acted the hell out both pre-death rude abusive husband Edgar and post-death bug alien wearing a skin suit "Edgar."

What not many people don't know Edgar played by Vincent D'Onofrio, was also Private Pyle in the hit movie, Full Metal Jacket. A very good actor.

Excellent reaction as always, I keep on underestimating just how good a movie this is. Definitely recommend 2 and 3 - MiB 2 has some issues but is still plenty fun, and 3 is highly underrated. Last year's MiB International don't bother with.

One of the things I love about J in hindsight is how much he subverts expectations of the typical Will Smith character. What does he say to K when he joins up? Recognise him for his skill, and don't patronize him. They play it off like a gag, but J, asides from his issues with authority (mostly from working with fat slobs with shitty attitudes like the ones we see) is basically a supercop - he's in peak physical condition, thinks outside the box and shows hints of a photographic or at least exceptionally good memory. Had he never stumbled upon the MIB, he might never have reached his full potential, but he was practically born to do the job.
@Eidlones2 жыл бұрын
When K shoots Jeeves head, he instantly reacts, pulling a gun on someone who very clearly outranks him (He showed up, took care of all his issues with his boss, and takes him to work on a case outside of his precinct, while wearing a suit. Most likely he thinks hes CIA or FBI). On him to drop the gun before Jeeves body even hits the ground.
@radicaladz2 жыл бұрын
@@Eidlones I mean he did just witness a man blow another guy's head off without any indication of who this supposed person is. Blowing a guy's head off in cold blood is still a crime, whoever is doing it, and J is still a cop. He has no reason not to at that point.

Michael Jackson was approached for a cameo in the "everyone on those screens is an alien" scene but didn't realise it was a joke so took offence by it. When he saw the movie he realised it was a comedy and they weren't being serious so he asked to cameo if they did a sequel

the first time I saw a trailer for this movie in the 90's, I had just finished reading a novel regarding aliens on Earth, and the Men in Black was involved (and honestly, I had never heard of the theory of the Men in Black until then!)

The alien in "the edgar suit" is played by Vincent D'Onofrio, who is a pretty legendary actor (e.g. Full Metal Jacket, Kingpin in the Daredevil series, and much more), but this may be one of his best performances ever! And as you note, the makeup is excellent

Linda Florentino - - now that you have been introduced to her, you need to see her in "Vision Quest" and "Gotcha!" (Personally, I like "Gotcha!" because it came out when I was stationed in Germany, so it has some sentimental value to me.)

Okay EEWW now the thumbnail goes too far EWW. Anyway, Steven Spielberg AND George Lucas are both aliens on the screen thingy. And since you're never gonna run out of movies to watch: Vincent D'Onofrio's unforgettable breakout role was in Stanley Kubrick's Vietnam war film Full Metal Jacket. Excellent film (and my second favorite war movie), but not the easiest watch emotionally. Linda "Hello sultry voice" Fiorentino starred in some sultry thrillers in the 90s. I haven't seen The Last Seduction since then but Tarantino was a big fan of the film back in the day. (Might be too spicy for a reaction channel.) Judging by your reaction, neither of you has seen Casablanca. Even in the 90s, it was still an oft-quoted and -spoofed movie. Lots of reaction channels have done it and loved it. Everyone seems to be surprised by how invested they are in a movie made in 1942. You guys up to the challenge? Fun fact about Barry Sonnenfeld: he was the Coen brothers' cinematographer before he became a director. His directorial debut, The Addams Family, is a really lovable macabre twist on a cheesy family film.
