This isn't the actual live performance. And yeah, they don't sound all that great when they sing live. A big part of it is probably because he's not singing in his native language. It's a LOT harder to sing in a different language, I think so anyways. They're still awesome though!

TokIo Hotel, s'il te plaît. Leurs chansons sont faites par des compositeurs qui écrivent pour eux, pas par eux. Ils ne sont que des interprètes. Alors je cherche toujours les artistes... Le chanteur sait chanter, en playback (même là sa voix m'insupporte, mais c'est mon avis). On ne peut pas comparer deux groupes comme ça.
