There is a very specific age range, people born in the 70s or 80s in particular that cherish the original Epcot attractions. Yes, it was slow. Yes, it was educational. Yes, it was boring for anyone looking for thrill rides but it had a fully immersive vibe and an artistry that will never be matched.

Horizons and the original Journey Into Imagination were perfect and you can't tell me otherwise. I grew up going to Epcot in the 90s and absolutely loved the original attractions. I would take any of them over what we have now (but leave Soarin', I love her in all her forms). Kids today just want high-speed, thrill rides and it's such a shame. Epcot in her prime was full of the best sounds, smells, and overall feelings. I clung to The Electric Umbrella for the longest time since that was the last true place you could feel any spark of the original Epcot. Now I am grateful for all the memories my parents allowed me to have growing up.

Ever wonder about the people in the final scene of Living with the Land, like the 'tomato girl' and 'blueberry kid'? Turns out those might be stock photos from the 90s, meaning they'd likely be in their mid to late 30s or early 40s now. This ride is one of my favorites at Epcot, and it's fascinating that these individuals have been part of it for so long, probably without even knowing. If anyone has updates, it would be incredible to hear. For Epcot's 42nd anniversary in 2024 or its 45th in 2027, it would be amazing if they could invite whoever's still around for a reunion. I bet fans would love to meet them.

In the late 80s I worked as a ride operator in Tomorrow Land at Disney World. This is the ride I wanted to work. It had the longest "spiel" of any ride in the entire resort. Longer than the Jungle Cruise or the Mike Fink Keel boats. Plus, it wasnt just silly jokes and nonsense. It was an educational presentation that I thought would way more fun to perform. I never got to work there but I did eventually become a teacher.
