You forgot one gigantic sin, the worst of the entire episode: Sky was suddenly able to manage everything that was expected of a Wonderbolt recruit after he couldn't even fly - within a few hours or days or so. That heavily undermines how tough it supposedly is to even be accepted into the academy and to manage the tasks there. It would have been a MUCH better ending to have him fail the tryouts and not make it but to have HER make it and have him cheer for her for a change while resigning himself to working hard and trying again next year.

Just patching a plothole for the sake of it: I think Sky had the physical strength to fly on his own, but too used to controlling it with Vapor's influence. So instead of acquire extra power, he just needed to learn to adjust his wings' force to account for her absence. Nevertheless I agree it still shouldn't have been good enough to secure a Wonderbolt position. The show makes it seem like you only need days of training to undo years and years of dependency.

I did the math, so you don't have to! I realized LittleshyFiM is making 1 "Everything Wrong With" video a month and is currently on the 24 episode of season 6. That means there are 78 episodes left. 78 months divided by 12 means it will take 6.5 years for him to make an "Everything Wrong With" video for every My Little Pony episode. And I just have to say, I fully admire him. That is dedication. But again, I'd understand if he stopped making videos about it. Either way, I appreciate how much work goes into each video! :)

I get a lot of the issues people have with the ship, but the idea of an egotist getting seriously knocked down a peg, having their ego broken, and then having to relearn to be a person is... pretty compelling stuff for a story. Even if the episode didn't handle it perfectly. But hey, that's where fanfics come in. And besides, Vapor is painfully cute. If she's already this head over hooves for Sky, I want to see him become someone worthy of that, yknow?

I always found this episode to be average at best but i enjoy it nonetheless, especially the parts with Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail i can still remember when a lot of people myself included shipping those two, Vapor Trail was just adorable!!! And i always found the parts where RD says "I was just there" to be hilarious and i could kinda understand her frustrations with that, because sometimes i feel the same way. anyway i give this episode 6/10.

The map knew where the friendship was going to be headed once Sky learned he couldn’t fly on his own during the solo trials. There would have been an investigation, Spitfire would have called both of them out and things probably would have turned out much worse because for her it’s more business as usual because being the captain she has to be looking out for each recruit. Harmony probably wants to ensure they make it through the academy with their friendship in tact as they’d both be very good co-leaders.

5:32 I like to think the map saw the makings of underlying friendship problems that it thought Twilight and Rainbow Dash could expose and then fix. This being Sky's ego and Vapor always helping him. So the problems were already there, they just weren't known at first, so the mao sent them there before the issues could get to a point where it's irreversible.

I think it was a friendship problem because it was a very dangerous relationship (haha) at that point since Vapor thought she had to help him and thought it was ok to lie to a friend, and Sky was dependent on Vapor but didnt even know it (an interesting dynamic icl). I feel like the tree did resolve a friendship problem, albeit a bit late perhaps

Gonna disagree with the map being the source of the issue bit. Sky never knowing vapor was helping, and vapor never telling him, had been the issue the entire time. Also the reason the map waited was probably because it didn't exist until recently and their issue was pretty minor compared to the others it called the group for.
