I love their chemistry, so strong and believable, but I did wonder while watching the movie why it took Julie just a day to seemingly get over her boyfriend's death when in his memories she appeared so in love with him. That was just the small thing about Teresa's fine performance that I thought was off.

Julie already explained that on the plane. Due to the world she lives in, Julie is used to death and has already lost her mother before. Perry had lost the will to live, and so Julie and Perry began to distance themselves from each other. This is shown at the beginning of the movie, didn't you notice that? Julie tries to communicate with Perry, fails, she wants to hold his hand, Perry doesn't, and they fight at the pharmacy. Perry had lost hope, he was ready to die, and Julie knew it. While she's on the plane with R, Julie is spending time with him and they are having fun. Meanwhile, there were points where Julie remembers Perry and actually showed her sadness, you might miss it. it's kind of a way of coping with it, but later she vents her sadness. Julie knows that R was the one who killed Perry, and she already told him so. After R told her this truth, Julie wanted to not say it any more so as not to make R feel more guilty. Now Julie is in love with R and wants to continue her life with him. Perry is dead and she can't do anything about with him, but thanks to their love, she can save R.
