What you realise more about the boys, they were happy in the glade. Guys like Albie and Gally were happy being the big fish in the small pond. It's why Albie, once the maze was totally mapped, hadn't made more effort to find alternative escape routes or tell anyone else bar a couple of people that the maze was inescapable. Even Minho seems oddly at ease with it. It's an interesting psychological question, like in Flatland. This is their entire world and they seem happy and content with it. Thomas and Theresa are the only one who is desperate to escape and it shows.
@pengu800910 ай бұрын
They probably thought in their mind that there was much more out there to uncover and find but they didn't want to face it so they just stuck with the same rules every day and night till Thomas came. These were all kids under 18 so I'd say they were scared for whatever was out there.

In the books, the maze makes a lot more sense. (The movie has some serious logical mistakes) In the books: 1) They were programmed not to be able to climb the walls and to think that it is impossible. 2) Ben, the runner, wasn't banished because he was stung, he was banished because he attacked another glade member. (Stung people get the serum to heal them). 3) People after beeing stung didn't turned into supersoldier who could hold up grievers, they turned into more aggressive people. 4) They decided to build houses, bc they already had searched every corner of the maze for an exit, mapped every change and found the pattern. 5) Minho left, before Thomas tied Alby up. The grievers chase Thomas through the vines after that. 6) So many other stuff, I can't even list it all.

Since this is a maze, the kids could use the wall-follower technique. Several runners could all try to stain their hands different colors (or use different amounts of fingers to differentiate the runners' paths) and keep to the left-hand side of several different directions. Doing this, they would have known that the mazes change very quickly and find a pattern to it. Then, the runners would only need to really study one or two mazes, and on the days where they aren't in use, they can help the community. They'd still get the sequence since all the runners would know the pattern of the mazes and possibly get out more quickly. The runner's curfew should also be earlier to prevent a situation like what happened at 9:36. To also prevent this, the runners should know about shadow positioning in relation to time, since it's unlikely they'll be able to see the sun clearly at any given time. When someone is stung, the boys should still put them in the pit, but also take the opportunity to ask questions about the grievers. If even one person gets stung, at least they'd be more prepared for the next one if they have some base-line information. They'd probably be able to know their attacks before the Glade was overrun. I’m surprised you immediately would think the scanner is looking for more people rather than scanning to see if it’s a griever. Since the tracker was in the griever, and doesn’t open without it, I’d think it was like some sort of fob so the griever could go sleep in the cave during the day. Then instead of letting the griever in, it saw kids and self destructed.
@BartholemewFitzgeraldThe4th Жыл бұрын
That ties in a lot better to the actual story in the book. Since the Grievers retreat to the griever hole every morning, that’s how Thomas and Minho figured out that that could be their escape. It’s really disappointing how they don’t tie the grievers in to the escape besides a random tracker being in them. That almost means that a Glader would HAVE to kill a griever, which is only possible with plot armour. They just find a random hole in the wall and that leads them straight out out the maze, no extra fuss, no nothing. And they only grab the other Gladers because that’s literally vital for their success. In the book, they’re incentivised to go as a team as they could get through more grievers. Thomas (theoretically) COULD have done it all himself, but he DECIDED to.

Damn the amount of research, editing, and thinking of how to get out like it was real is just amazing. Great job and video!

Cinema summary be like: "this would've taken too much time and is completely unrealistic, in this scenario, I would've rubbed my magic lamp and summoned my personal genie, this will give me three wishes and it's much quicker."

"The Runner now has 2 meat shields he can use to survive" When the runner tries to sacrefice them "We can't trust this guy. He tried to use them as meat shields to survive. Dude make up your mind.
@lunaw21743 жыл бұрын
trust and smart are two different things. Can't trust the guy because he would do what cinema summary would consider the smart move. Cinema wants to sacrifice others, not be sacrificed

@@lunaw2174 then he should have said the main character should use the leader and the runner as the meat shields. Justv asking for consistency here.

@@jobymanuel1353 which he did... multiple times, but that's not what the main character did so he's pointing out more things we find out from the scenes

Remember, our goal is to survive and while we know you can't trust someone who does that, you can't deny its smart, there is no hypocrisy here

22:34 "... so the _most logical_ conclusion is that [...] they didn't have enough people" Really?? *That's* the 'm.o.s.t logical' conclusion?? My conclusion would be that probably a) biological objects/lifeforms aren't allowed to pass through, or b) they weren't carrying a maintenance level clearance pass, or c) they failed to say the secret password or something like that

Yeah, that seemed like a leap in logic. They know precious little about the mechanics of the maze. How would they know they need more people, or that the door isn't actually a spawning site for more Grievers? The Griever module could've been part of a security system to summon reinforcements for all they know.

Maybe it's even scanning for a familiar face

I completely agree here. The number of people being the reason the alarm went off never once crossed my mind. I figured it was trying to detect the signal thing they had implanted in them

I think it is because the tracker came from a griever and they got scanned and didn't have griever look or stuff and seemed humanoid to the tracker
@imanaxolotl79993 жыл бұрын
I had would have figured that you need the trackers of all 9 grievers

"Now, normally, as soon as I realize my life is in danger, Id be sacrificing everyone here to stay alive." Bro what? That goes against like... all conventional wisdom and logic.
