I don't see value for us in that... you can't tell a story that way. Things are not happening in real time and the entry in sophisticated results is costly. Capturing the beauty of the cosmos in a cinematic fashion has been done so many times. Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey does it very nicely.

Hi Nicolas. I’m posting on my wife’s account as it’s logged in to YT on iPad. I’m watching my second awesome video from you and was pleasantly surprised to hear a track I composed during your Nord VPN promo! I’m a feature film director and composer. I directed the horror movie Urban Legend among others. I absolutely love your channel and I’m so glad the first time I’ve bumped into one of my AudioJungle royalty free tracks was on one of your videos. I couldn’t be prouder! You are a gem on KZbin and set the bar so much higher than others creating content in this space, or any other. You deserve a huge audience and I will certainly help spread the word to my mates in the biz. Warmest regards from a new fan. Jamie.

Thx for the great tips Nicolas! Always luv to see what's next!! Light is it, without it we truly have nothing, and for most Filmmakers, cinematographers, or DOP's... is the KEY to a successful film. I find it fascinating how many spend $$$$ on equipment but seem to lack in lighting, me included. I'm still on the fence with LED lighting as it is still evolving by leaps & bounds, and most... COST. I'm saving up and will look at them again next year. Cheers

@@MediaDivision Amen to that. Do you have any recommendations for lenses that produce a more "mysterious" pure look to them? For example, Canon lenses are reknown for a "warmer" look, and Zeiss for a "cooler" look, but I love night photography, and really want to bring out the mystery in the unknown dark of an unfamiliar neighborhood. The beauty in the way the streetlamp pierces the darkness, the wonder in the streaks of light on the pavement winding around the edge of the alley. Something that picks up the "glow" of light so to speak. Any suggestions?
@MediaDivision4 жыл бұрын
well... the Canon FD 55mm f1.2 looks very dreamy wide open and the non aspherical version is somewhat cheap.... if you want to go really wide, the Kipon IBELUX f0.85 can reveal a new world on a sensitive camera like a Sony A7sII. Have you seen our "ultrafast" episode? kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKGYdmqfjd2Yh6c
@farid14064 жыл бұрын
@@MediaDivision You have successfully addicted me to yet more lenses. Going to have to save up for the Kipon in the future. I have the Canon FL 55 1.2 which I love for the dreamy look it gives fully open. Is it comparable to the FD?
@farid14064 жыл бұрын
@@MediaDivision Yessir! Haven't finished the whole episode, so I'm not sure if you went over any "budget friendly" Ultra-fasts. I was inspired by these options you listed and looked into the Mitakon f/.95 but was disappointed since I was a Panasonic S1 and the mounts they offer (Sony E, Fuji X, Canon EOS) can't be adapted for the Leica L full frame. At this point its either the IBELUX 40 mil $1400 (LOL) or the brand new Mitakon 50mm f/.95 but I'm not supe hyped about the 50 mil focal length - I have so many fifties I'd like to get something just a bit wider.

It's interesting to watch how lighting has evolved just for KZbin bloggers. It was all about 3-point lighting, then the ring lights to keep everyones face soft. I then started to see everyone using fairy lights or groups of other small old-fashioned bulbs - to have multiple spots of bokeh light. Today I'm seeing neon colored lights in the backgrounds - neon blue and purple most commonly with a regular white light on the subjects face.
@MediaDivision5 жыл бұрын
Sure.... lighting is fashion and the technical possibilities...... in cinema we are all about side and backlight an d about low key lighting... that will inspire Creators plus the general expectation regarding production value went up.

I like Dedo.... and it is Bi-Color, but a 3rd of the power for over double the price is hard to swallow for me.

@@MediaDivision yea its fair enough, i think the aputure wasn't out yet when i bought the dedo, buttt i also heard sometimes the aputure's fan can get a bit noisy? i used to do a lot of interviews sometimes in tight spaces so that would have been a big no no. also looks a tiny bit bulky to use as a ENG style topmic as i described, which can be a neat feature of the dedo, but with u on the power and price.

@@Patrick-jj5nh not this one, no... the large 300 D is barely audible.... funny enough the power supply for the 300 D is very audible.... idiots ;-) The LS-mini is not a great light, but it is cheap, bright and it is compact... just right for this set.

Excellent. Innovative, non-standard kit and excellent lighting examples. I pay much closer attention to your work than the others out there. I agree regarding free training content and uniting filmmakers--it is hard without peer support, and more than hard enough with it. Beside that, selfishness closes the doors of creativity. Note: as a screenwriter, I also have a couple of my own documentary projects in mind involving minimal to no crew. To be prepared, I have been doing quite a bit of research on the aspects of filmmaking besides writing. Your work winds up right on top of the stack every time I see it. Thank you.
