Spider-Verse! Probably the prettiest movie made last year, potentially one of the prettiest ever. One that got great reviews but not as many people as you'd expect went out to see it. Here's why you should definitely go see the next one in theatres! Everything right with Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse!

Miles being black is a huge thing from what I've seen and heard. My favorite story is the time a kid of around 10 or 12 set some Spiderman comics down on a store counter for purchase. The clerk asked who his fave Spiderman was, and the kid got confused cause he only knew about Peter Parker. The clerk shows him Ultimate Spiderman with Miles and the kid runs screaming to his mom "MOM! MOM! SPIDERMAN LOOKS LIKE ME! SPIDERMAN LOOKS LIKE ME!" Representation matters, folks.

I just want to add one thing! At the very beginning, you see a poster on the wall right in front of Miles’ drawing board. It’s just boots and a cape, but there’s two aspects to this. One, it’s obviously foreshadowing that Miles is into heroes and one with a cape is prominently displayed on his wall, hence his desire to add a cape to his costume later on. But secondly, I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be Superman! I see it as a subtle but very respectful and tasteful nod to the first comic book hero ever, regardless of it being a different property. Total and absolute class.

My one issue with this movie (and it’s one of my favorites ever) is how they gloss over Gwen’s trauma. When Peter (burnt out) sees MJ, we get a whole thing about how he’s sorry and how he still loves her and such, but when Gwen sees Peter for the first time, her friend, who died, who is also a spider person, nothing. They never even acknowledge that she’s seeing her dead friend, but we get a whole goofy thing about peters love interest. Just kinda bums me out.
@DrakeAurum
@DrakeAurum 2 жыл бұрын
Since she gets blown into the past in Miles's timeline, she actually has to go through Peter dying a second time, which has to be tough. But bear in mind that Peter B Parker is around twenty years older than her Peter, so it's not exactly like seeing her friend in the flesh again.

@Julio Sula I expect good quality interesting fights. There were no stakes. there was no hint that anyone was getting hurt. Take a new pounding? Just get back up. Over and over and over again. Rewatch CinemaWins' video, how much time does he spend complimenting the fights compared to the length of the movie? The fights took almost 30 minutes of a 2 hour movie. That's 25% of the movie. Did he spend nearly any time talking about the fights? No? That should tell you something. He spent more time talking about the posters in Miles bedroom than the fights. Learn to read between the lines. The fights were BAD. Just plain bad. My other points stand as well.

I remember that I specifically avoided watching this movie when it came out because it came from Sony, then I was at a friend's house one day and they asked if I wanted to watch the movie. I hesitantly agreed and honestly had low expectations (except for the animation) not realizing what a ride I was going to get. I laughed at all the jokes, cried at the heartbreaking moments, and loved the movie from start to finish with the best feeling I had in a long time about a movie. I watched it 3 more times that weekend and officially claimed it as my favourite movie. My biggest regret was not seeing this when if came out in theatres, because if I had even the slightest clue of what was coming, and thar it was going to be amazing, I would've wholeheartedly supported it. And that's the first time I've ever said that about any movie.

Oh MAN I’m sorry you missed it in theaters! Get this. Gf and I went out on a whim to see it opening weekend, and I’ve always liked 3D (idk why, I just do, I just never jumped on that hate train) and we ate a tiny bit of a certain fungus before going into the theaters. We figured it would be maybe an ok movie at best. We had no idea. NO IDEA WHATSOEVER what we were stepping into. In 3D. On m*******s. Oh boy. We laughed, we cried, we whipped our heads and looked at each other about 100 different times. But mostly we just say there with our mouths hanging open. And I have to say, having seen quite a few 3D movies (whenever it’s an option, we did it), it was hands down the absolute best 3D movie I have EVER seen. I cannot stress enough how good the 3D was. It actually upsets me how bad of a rap 3D has gotten when the majority of 3D movies have been awesome, and now sadly the format is very niche. When the sequel to this movie comes out, I pray that it’s good. And I’m telling you right now, drive however far you possibly can to see it in IMAX 3D.

Goes to show how much they planned ahead

I think it's fine that there was no final kiss between Miles and Gwen, that formula has been done to death. Rarely do you see platonic friendships between men and women on screen, and while I think it honestly isn't headed that way - should there ever be a sequel - it'd be a breath of fresh air.

Yeah. Way too many movies assume that any lead male and female character MUST get together, and it sends an uncomfortable message that the only male-female relationships are romantic. I love that this movie lets Miles and Gwen jsut be great character in their own right, with their own agency, and show a functional male-female friendship. More movies need to be aware of female characters as more than simple "The romantic lead".

And a more emotional moment in that fight would have helped fisk become a better character himself. Also anime spider girl needed a little more screen time. Not a lot. Just a little. As it stands Spider pork had more screen time then her.
