I think the first few images were pretty good overall, some of them just need a bit of adjustment in LR or Photoshop to get them to the finish line. The ones towards the end... def seems like either your metering is way off or your shutter is starting to not trigger properly, possibly combined with a light leak. Shutter speed can be tested by recording an audio clip of various speeds and then importing the clip into Audacity or similar to measure the spacing. Might also want to use a lens hood if you have it-- can be hard to tell if the lens is being flared with a TLR. Metering can be tricky, especially in back-lit or partial shade situations. In shaded conditions, I generally use spot metering if possible: point your meter (or select the point w/ your phone app) on what you want to be a neutral area (such as grass or light-colored foilage and leaves, gray textiles, etc.) and then compare it with the incident metering as a sanity check. I usually also intentionally overexpose negative film by +1/2 or +2/3 of a stop, so even if I mess up the metering a bit, I still have some density to play with during adjustments. Looking at the negatives on a light table can tell you a lot about what is happening (I use a cheap Huion tracing pad and it works great). For example, to help determine what is happening with the light leaks from the "white fade" on the side of your images or that weird rectangle. And to judge the overall density and quality of the images and development process, which is hard to do from the scan alone. I've had to replace the seals in some of my RZ67 film backs -- USCamera[.]com has seals for Yashica and others if you need them.

Thanks, that’s some great feedback for me to think about!

The white on the side is light leak, and have you had the shutter tested to see if the speeds are accurate?

Also, those shutter speeds/apreture sound WAY too fast/bright for the light you are in, where are you pointing the light meter when you read?

I haven’t had it tested. I didn’t know you could do something like that. That’s a great suggestion thanks!

I think I’m pointing just in the center and overall scene.

@@JayMacroPhotos yeah, I recommend having it tested for sure.

@@JayMacroPhotos compared to another video of yours, where in similar lighting, you were getting 1/60 shutter speeds, you were getting 1/250 or faster for this video. It just seemed really fast for shade lighting.

It’s too bad the film wasn’t working out that day. It’s weird how the black bar showed up in the middle and it couldn’t pick up the subjects after. Your compositions are really good and your digital photographs are awesome. I really like 2 and 4, it’s nice having the three people next to the fire and you have nice contrast and texture. I like how 4 is framed with the table, tents and it makes the person stand out. Nice work!

Photos are cool but that stock is designed with editing and post processing in physical form in mind, I definitely see in your iphone edits how you were going for that Kill Bill look. You shoulda edited the scans you did get back to match it as well. I have noticed on cinestill products that sometimes they can have leaks on the borders from the process of removing the remjet but only on 120 and only on the borders. Bwxx is s straight imax stock so it shouldn't be touched during packaging, those final images look like meter failure or malfunction. If it was your shutter it be more sporadic, sudden, or blurred more than likely. The shutter on the Yashica Mat probably could survive nuclear war. Your white spots are leaks and can easily be fixed by taking the door off and re foaming using some sticky felt from hobby lobby

Leniency in exposure? The film was horrible? 😂 Guy - You have no facility with the instrument AND you have light leaks. Stick with your pocket electronics.

Yeah I don’t know why this film was so bad. I had better experience with other film.
