Ember had the ability to hold the "Your business is about to be shut down" pamphlet, and decide when to burn it at will. And Clod's little fire girlfriend at the end of the movie had the ability to hold his armpit flowers without burning them even though ember burnt them earlier in the movie. I think this means they can choose whether to burn or not burn certain things at will.

The earth person on the train is actually the construction guy from the movie when Wade explains how he pissed the team off and wont be getting their help. The thing on the earth persons head between the crystals is a construction hat ^^
