Cinewhoop Exploring New Forest, Hampshire - CINEMATIC FPV Drone 4K - (GoPro Hero 8 Black)

Cinematic 4K edit flying amongst the tress and forest floor in New Forest Hampshire. I don't give this little quad the credit it deserves, it is brilliant fun flying in tight spaces and for exploring, even if it does feel incredibly slow after casual cruising at 40+ mph with my 7" Inch LR Quad!
I never felt fully comfortable flying close to objects when flying analogue video whilst being a new pilot, but since switching over to HD, I have a new found confidence.
Still learning, so always open to helpful suggestions & improvements!

Outstanding! I have spent the last month learning how to fly FPV with Velacidrone and Liftoff. I was blown away at how much more difficult it was to fly this way as apposed to my Air 2 and Mini. Took about 20 hours before I could even get around a simple course but I can at least keep it flying for awhile now. My DJI FPV is supposed to arrive today. My plan is to "ease" into it this way before I build my own. I am a FAA Part 61 pilot without a medical and I also picked up my Part 107. I'm 74 years old. Got my first drone, the Mini, last June and since then I have been having a "BALL". Thank You for the inspiration to learn and progress to new heights!

Thank you Irwin, I'm glad to hear you are getting into the world of FPV!! Simulators are the best way to start, everyone uses them, I still use mine all the time to practice when I can't get out to fly! Flying full manual definitely takes a lot of time to adjust to and it doesn't happen overnight 😯 The DJI FPV is an excellent way to get into the full FPV experience as you have the safety buffer there incase you do feel uncomfortable at any point. I had to learn the hard way and it involved a lot of crashes. You sound knowledgeable to know your stuff and fly safely! One of the better gopro fpv settings I've seen. So you use the 180 rule? 30fps meetns shutter 1/60? I wonder what the auto ISO functionwould do here. Keep up the good job

Thanks bro, yeah 30fps 1/60th shutter, ISO locked at 100, anything over 400 causes grainyness on these gopros, so good to keep as low as possible due to small sensor size!

Thanks man! My settings differ depending on my scene, but for stuff like this I normally shoot 4k 4:3 Wide, 29.97fps, High Bitrate, 1/60 more motion blur or 1/120 for less motion blur, ND 16/32 Filter. ISO 100 & WB 5500K. Low sharpness as you can add in post, Flat colour profile. Hit me up if you need anything else brother 🤟👊

@@Slarkmedia that's what I love about cinewhoops, can strap on bag and deploy very quickly. Had 1st and have a bumblebee and just bought a Protek 35 which is fun, can actually freestyle a gopro and it's not mega fast, which is good for cinematic.

Yeah I never did use my Cinewhoop much, I think I very much underestimated how much fun they are, I mostly fly LR with my 7" so didn't want to waste precious flying time using a cinewhoop, they both have their benefits, but still just as fun! @@Slarkmedia the thing is with cinematic, unless long range surf like 7" stuff,.too much speed looks bad when in trees etc and that protek is slow enough but able to freestyle, but also can just change your angle low and fly like cinewhoop. Very good 1 fits all for cinematic with a subject.

Keep at it man! Low level flying looks the best with these smaller drones in my opinion. FPV certainly gives you a rush. Had you flown any other drones before FPV?

@@Slarkmedia I had the dji phantom 1 when they came out years ago not fpv though ( it few away never to be seen again ) , didn’t touch anything that flies since , got my fpv racers beginning of this year , hovered mantis85 around the house on stable mode to see how it behaved then thought going straight to fpv in acro after watching video after video after video next time I’m out is day 6 I think of fpv , now I can’t fly with out it lol and not used the simulator as can’t use them

Do you typically fly these cinematic drones in angle or acro mode? I know i fly very fluid in angle if i keep stick pressure to avoid auto leveling out so cruising will look smooth. No judgements either way. Just curious

I always fly in Acro mode, never flown in angle mode. I feel the shots are more fluid in acro mode, it gives you much more flexibility with turns and I don't feel limited. I'd suggest if you fly FPV to learn flying acro 100% and only use Horizon/Angle mode on a switch in emergency situations. 👍🙏

@@Slarkmedia You have amazing stick control. I find using acro on anything smaller than a 5" to be too sensitive and unwieldy, but I also have limited experience with 3" ducted whoops that have a decent amount of weight to them...so maybe I would have an easier time with one of them.

Thanks man, I do typically fly my 3" more recently with the bad weather and covid lockdown. This is the environment for them aswell, if you try and fly anything bigger they are just too fast and it can get a little crazy if you come across as scraggle and there isn't much room to punch out in a forest! The weight defiantly helps, you get less flight time and power, these little conewhoops don't get blown around as much.

This was flown with a 3" Ducted cinewhoop, I don't own a 5" quad, I typically fly either cinewhoops or Long Range 7" quads. I don't have a description written for my 3" Ducted whoop yet, so didn't included it in the upload description 😐

As a pointer, to avoid having to potentially take away from the atmosphere of the vid - you could do some simple sound mixing, and sample audio of your drone at low volume, with a decent audio recording of the environment you're shooting in, then mix the two :)

I have been thinking about this for a little while, I know alot of artists do it to add to the cinematics of the surroundings and adding context to the video. 180 rule for shutter speed dude, 30FPS @ 1/60 shutter. Sharpness on medium. You could set low if you wanted too and just add during post, depends on the situation sometimes, GOPRO can be too sharp sometimes on medium sharpness, it's easier to add sharpness than remove it, so if in doubt shoot low!

When shooting video I always use 180 rule but I had the feeling that with this amount of speed the 180 rule was kinda to long exposed and the video got a little bit too soft, but maybe it was because my hard mount was too jello.. need to figure that out. You're not wrong, GOPRO's have an insane amount of motion blur already! But as I was only flying with a cinewhoop I wasn't too concerned. I presume you're using ND filters whilst following the 180 rule? If you're getting too much motion blur then try shooting 1/120 @ 30FPS I have to occasionally switch it up when flying my LR 7" quad as it is way too fast! I presume you're shooting 4:3 format also for Reelsteady?
