I have made a variation of this shawl for wheelchair cancer patients and veterans in veteran retirement homes as this type of shawl will not get stuck in the wheels of their wheelchairs. The only suggestion I have, as a cancer survivor and one who makes items for charity, would be to make it in a yarn that can take laundry wash and dry often. For those in nursing homes, the shawl may be washed by the staff in hot water., which would not be good for a yarn containing wool. Also, cancer patients often get sick during treatment and would need to wash and dry their wrap. Another considerations would be those individuals allergic to wool so if you gift an item with wool, make the declaration on the shawl that the materials include wool. Cancer patients often feel alone, sometimes because they can’t express their fears to their loved ones, so giving them a wrap or hug is a wonderful thing.

Yesterday I was going through my yarn stash and found that I have several cakes of Ferris Wheel. I was trying to decide what to make with it. I saw your video about your Grandma passing away and that led me to this video. I know exactly what I’m going to make! In honor of your Grandma, I’ll be making this shawl. Im so sorry that you and your family are dealing with the loss of your precious Grandma. She sounded like a wonderful woman and your video honored her life beautifully. May you feel peace and love as you remember her. May God give you comfort and strength to move forward. Sending you love and prayers from Texas. 😢💔🙏🙏🙏

Thankyou so much for this tutorial. i have been waiting ever since you said you would do this in honour of such a close family member. I will be making this for a very special friend who has stage 4 cancer (everywhere now). She and I have been friends since high school so over 50 years now. Through births, marriages and deaths and many other things we have stayed friends. This will hopefully give her some comfort. Thankyou, it means a lot.

Morning, Glory! I have Prism yarn in my meager stash and I will use it to make my Barbara Ann shawl! I already know what Im doing with mine, my brother in laws mom is battling breast cancer and is definately cold all the time. Mine will be a gift to her! Side note-due to banking issues my membership fee might miss the next payment. I hope it doesnt but, if it does, will I lose my length of membership time? I hope not but if I do have to start over, so be it. Im NOT going anywhere, I will reinstate my membership ASAP after getting my banking issue cleared up!❤❤

Since we may never see premier week again, maybe you can turn that time of year into Barbara Ann week? You could cater tutorials to people with different cancers. Caps, shawls, lapghans, etc. What do you think? 🤔🧶
