I missed all the Try Guys drama after the Ned Fulmer cheating stuff came out. SNL made a terrible skit about and the Try Guys themselves have started speaking out now that it seems safe.

Thanks for filling us in on things we didn't know or got wrong! After reading though a lot of the comments and getting filled in, I don't really think my commentary on what we watched would have changed all that much. I would have talked more about them already trying to remove Ned from the company before the news broke and him being a higher up in the HR department. But I would still be sus of the whole thing. They control the narrative and have controlled the situation masterfully. There is no real way to prove to me that the possibility of someone knew before the threat of it going public happened and that it was better to leave it under wraps for the safety of the brand and the money coming in doesnt exist. Maybe its all the truth maybe its not. That's just how I think about it. Seems most of the frustration that I'm reading is coming from fans that are angry that I'm speculative and not taking everything they have said as absolute truths and am not on a nonstop Ned witch hunt the entire video. Fair enough. Screw Ned.

Your criticisms did feel lopsided. Too much time spent shitting on the Try Guys, even though they've handled the situation exactly right, which is rare and deserves acknowledgement. I don't blame you for being skeptical about their side of things, I've wondered a lot of the same things, but in the end, it's entirely possible they had no idea and it feels unfair to go after them, especially when you haven't done any proper research. They are friends with Ned's wife, too, like she's part of the company. The whole thing is insane from so many different angles, there's so much to talk about, and I wish you'd spent more time talking about those things (and shitting on Ned, absolutely) and less time accusing the remaining Try Guys of things you have no evidence they've done. It was like watching the SNL sketch all over again. But maybe I'm just too invested in the situation, it's all felt a little personal to me. Still love you guys anyway. You have a good one.

I watched the podcast episode and here's a better explanation. They found out about it a month or so before the news and immediately started working overtime to get Ned out of the company. They were going through HR and lawyers to get everything done right. They were planning to break the news, already had their announcement written up, they were just waiting for the right time. They were constantly checking reddit and things just to see if some one figured it out yet. They were already editing Ned out of stuff and knew their fans were too smart not to notice something was up. When the news got out, they didn't expect it to get so big. They knew their fans would tall, but they didn't expect big news sites to reach out. If Ned and Alex weren't caught, they still would tell the world and remove Ned from the company, they just would announce it at a different time. They talked about why they removed Ned and their feelings, and they said they felt betrayed by this and that it didn't fit the TryGuy brand, that's why they removed him. He was already removed before the news broke. Believe what you want, you have your own opinions- but I personally think these guys are good guys who just didn't agree with Ned's actions and so stopped working with him, what the media said before and after the news broke had no effect on their decision and actions, only when they posted their announcement.

Thank you! They had already edited him out and removed him from the company before the news even broke. I do think they knew though (or at least had suspicions) and I don't believe them when they said they were surprised. Eugene though was very attached to Ariel and her kiddos. He is a product of divorce himself and it may have really hit close to home. Him talking right now would be a liability. Just so messy...

I think they thought Ned wasn't being faithful to Ariel, trying to hook up with fans on tour and such (some reddit users said he would hit on them in bars and such). I know the podcast is long but I'd recommend watching just that part about the situation. I'm gullible as hell, but it seems like they're good guys just wanting to handle everything the best they can. They mentioned that they knew for a month about Ned and had to do a whole hr thing to remove him from the company to make sure they weren't liable for wrongful termination. People started noticing something when Ned stopped showing up in videos or they could see that the wallpaper looked fuckedup. When you listen to the podcast it becomes clear what a mental toll this took on them. Zach was alone at the company when they found out about Ned

I think Buff and Ken should watch the full podcast, and the multiple videos breaking down the situation. They have the overall story, but don't know the details. According to the podcast, Ned was removed from the company weeks before it was trending on the internet. A few fans from reddit knew of the situation because one of these fans was the one who photographed Ned and Alex, who then shared it to Ariel, Will, and of course reddit (through this reveal, it's assumed the Try Guys were then informed as well). Again, all of this occurred before it was trending all over the internet. And the removal of Ned wasn't just a "....yea, you're fired Ned Fulmer for cheating". Again, as the podcast mentioned, the guys contacted lawyers and the relevant HR representatives to determine the appropriate legal actions needed to deal with Ned's actions (this legal action was as the podcast implied: the conducting of a thorough internal review). Note: Ned's offence wasn't cheating (even though it completely goes against his brand within the company), his actual offence was engaging in a workplace relationship with an employee as a co-owner. Which could become a great liability to the overall company. This all occurred before the entire internet knew, so to say that they only fired Ned after the news blew up is undoubtedly false. So yes, Ned would've been removed even if the situation remained private, futhermore as I outlined before, he WAS removed before the situation went viral. They brought up the font of Ned's statement because to some people it seemed that his statement and the official company's statement were coordinated. This couldn't have been the case, because by then Ned was long removed from the company. So Keith and Zach mentioned this to clarify that.
@meinenklinke

This is exactly why you have to disclose relationships to HR. If Ned had been single as an owner and chose to date an employee, but it was properly disclosed, then there could be accountability and you could prove that there wasn’t favoritism or retaliation… but a shady secret relationship on top of it already being questionable? Nah, that ain’t it, Ned.

The thing about no one knowing is 1:guys get good at hiding cheating. From experience, he probably had friends early on encouraging him to do this shit because Ariel and a couple others have talked in the past about Ned being a player. And 2: he was with an employee. His friends aren't JUST his friends. They are his business partners. They have a very BIG business. And he was basically HR for them anyway, because before this they didn't have a real HR department. So it makes sense to me that his "best friends" didn't know because he was going against his and their entire brand. They probably got too comfy in public because they got away with it before. He feels more relaxed "alone" with her, so they got stupid and screwed everything up. Loved the vid so far, I'm about halfway through.

Guys... no. The other three guys were initially keeping things under wraps because 1.) they were dealing with a legal mess behind the scenes (Ned was the co-owner of their company, was dating an employee, and was the head of HR, so surely you can see what a clusterfuck that was; it's a miracle that they were able to get rid of him within a month of them finding out about this scandal); 2.) the guys + their SOs are friends with Ariel, who likely needed some time prepare herself for the public fallout and having such private pain aired to strangers. Oh, and they found out and got rid of him before the story broke, not afterwards (I don't even know if that'd be possible to do off the cuff, since he was a co-owner of the company so would likely need to be bought out, and an internal investigation would need to be done for, well, legal reasons). They're also grieving the loss of a nearly decade-long friendship, with said friendship being with someone who basically fucked them and their livelihoods over (and cost them A LOT of money, since they've had to scrap a ton of videos they filmed in advance, and their show on the Food Network has now been shifted to a terrible day + time slot) for selfish reasons - would you not be hurting, too? Not to mention the fact that Eugene has opened up about how his own father would frequently cheat on his mother, so this situation is extra personal for him. And let's not assume that they knew about the affair when there's no proof that they did, yeah? Especially since that'd be a massive liability (both legal + social) that they'd be stupid to allow.

Kieth was on a stage tour when a fan messaged him about the evidence of Ned cheating, Eugene has been working on side projects and a script or something like that. Eugene hasn't been in videos for about a year with some stuff here and there so he probably truly didn't know as with Kieth. Zach has been launching his tea company and planning his wedding, so he was probably not fully in the office, plus they just made a TV show and the employee was not part of that, so I think it is highly plausible that no one knew. One of their employees kinda pieced it together after a vague statement they made about Ned "leaving" the company but knowing Ned showing manipulative tendencies on podcasts before and clearly denying some videos they wanted to do that he is very calculated and probably had a very good "character" built up when they were all together

They clearly take legal matters seriously so I have no doubt whatsoever, that he would have to provide a legitimate reason to fire her. If she wanted to leave the relationship without sacrificing her job, she could have taken the appropriate responsibility and been forthright within the company. I obviously don't know anymore than anyone else does, but it's my interpretation that she was at least mostly comfortable with cheating on her partner with her boss who literally everyone in the entire world knows is married with kids. That having been said, responsibility starts at the start of the affair. At the start of their affair, she would have made the choice to be with a man whose wife she had even worked next to. I feel like this situation could really become obstructive to a person who is dealing with workplace abuse or abuse of power, as messed up as the situation is, that doesn't seem like what's happened here.

Stages of grief do occur when we lose friendships or find out something we believed in isn't what we thought. Also they can occur in a short time because they are not linear and sequentially. They can happen simultaneously and over short time spans. In fact we dont really even think of it as "stages anymore". If you have multiple grief reactions over something besides death, you are valid and deserve support.

You guys have to remember, NEDS WIFE WAS PART OF THE COMPANY TOO. That is why they were waiting to announce it. For HER sake. Arial was preparing for the droves of attention on her broken marriage. That's a lot. And her being best friends with Eugene and we'll as both the other guys wife's, was probably one of the reasons they were slower to thrust her into the spot light. Not to mention Ned owning 1/4 of the company, the reddit thread on Ned and Alex's drunken night out. They had to have some time to do damage control. They gave everyone a week and then made the announcement. It's not as devious as you guys might paint it.

Hell you can even experience grief when losing something that isn't a person, like your house.

Idk if anyone else has explained it, also didn't bother to look that far. But the TryGuys found out over Labor Day weekend because whoever alerted Will, the female's SO and they also made Ariel, Ned's wife and the TryGuys aware. The week before they posted their PR comment was when they, as a trip, signed Ned off of the company. Then a week later they make their statement during the speculation. Hopefully that helps clear some things up.

14:10 They actually started editing Ned out of their videos way before the news broke out and removed him from the company before the news broke out. The plan was to go through with this as thoroughly legal as possible. Speculations came out about something happening to Ned because people noticed he was being edited out of the videos more and more. Then the picture of him cheating was leaked, which put their whole process into nitro-fueled insanity.

So the Try Guys and their SO's are all actually pretty good friends that do all the normal friend stuff. (Hangout, plan trips together, attend holiday gatherings/birthday parties, ect) They found out about the cheating at the beginning of September when fans approached them with these photos, which Ned confirmed. They spent all of September meeting with Lawyers/HR/PR, and handling the legal side of the situation/negotiating to remove Ned as an employee of the company. The news gained traction towards the end of September which is when they informed all involved parties that they would have to release a statement to explain their POV. If you don't watch the full podcast, best to find a person to better summarize it for you.

Eugene hasn't been on the podcast for the better part of the year. He's been working on a separate project. so, being a try guys fan for a while, and keeping up with this quite a lot. The timeline got a little mixed. The guys are really close with a lot of their employees, so it's really honestly something they could have brushed off as a work thing the whole time Ned and Alex were going on dates-- sure a little weird but maybe not out of pocket when you have Zach and Miles pretending to be engaged for a video series or other things similar throughout their whole history on youtube. That being said, Zach, Eugene, and Keith were made aware of the affair a MONTH prior to it breaking out HUGE in the public, but a WEEK before sprinkles of it began to circulate on small spaces online, I believe reddit but I'm not sure. They had been working diligently for the last month (to be specific, this was Labor Day weekend in the US and around the time they were filming their Broadway series in NYC which is currently being released now) to get the legalities covered and make sure they did everything right and by the book. The story didn't begin to circulate hugely online until about a month after they were made aware by fans who had made the videos/images now circulating. The same fans also were kind enough to contact both Alex and Ned's significant others prior to releasing anything online, as they wanted to respect the privacy and be kind to those who were actually hurt in this situation. So, while I understand and normally side with your cynicism (and perhaps this is my bias) I truly believe they were nearly entirely unaware and did the best they could given the circumstances. I do think they are truly friends with most of their coworkers (both equals and those they employ) and all of the company is very hurt and upset at this whole, now entirely blown out of proportion, situation.

Oh my god, Ken has no idea what he’s talking about, lol 🙈 So many wrong assumptions. He really needed Mary there to help. 😅 The Guys didn’t know. Ned really is just a narcissistic idiot who got sloppy. Eugene, especially, is very close to Ned’s wife. THAT is why he’s so mad. They were given the photos before the Reddit posts were made. Once they found out, they IMMEDIATELY removed Ned from upcoming projects and started editing him out of unreleased videos while their HR investigation took place. They were going to announce he had left the channel permanently in the winter without specifics, out of respect for the families involved. The Reddit posts by the mistress’ ex-fiancé obviously made that impossible, so they released their statement. Ned made a statement that used the same style and font to make it look like it was a joint decision/press release when it wasn’t. You can absolutely remove the conspiracy theory that they knew before they said they did from your brain, lol. Eugene (who is gay) is FIERCELY loyal to his girl-friends, especially Ariel. There’s no WAY he’d EVER take part in deceiving her. Not for a “bro”, and not for the brand.

couple of things the 6 mins video had wrong - they knew for a month before coming out. they knew from fans sending their significant others the evidence first. then they investigated, found it to be true and suspend him first before eventually kicking him out once it was legal enough to kick him out - they were planning to make a statement but they had to prepare and protect themselves legally first. they start removing him from videos and merch so fans get suspicious, story got found out and blown up. they had to make a statement immediately

They also didn't just kick him out or fire him. He was a co-owner of the company. They had to buy him out of his share of the company. Which is EXTREMELY expensive and takes a long time to do. It's not like they could just fire him and fix the situation immediately. It's was a whole process for them. And they had to be very carefully and make sure to do it legally so that Ned or Alex couldn't turn around and sue them.

The guys did remove Ned from their videos, basically placing him on leave from the moment the fans contacted them privately about what they had seen, and started reviews with HR-people for almost a full month before the news finally leaked and started trending. Ie they took immediate action as soon as word reached them, and not doing so would be against every single principle the guys have always stood for.

I still feel like Ken isn't getting the full picture. He's been given a breakdown by someone who focused on the emotional impact of the scandal, not the legal implications and money involved. Ned was NOT walking away quietly and he forced them to handle this legally rather than walk away with grace. He thought he could bully everyone into silence, but their brand wouldn't survive his carelessness. He was selfish and gross. Plain and simple. He was arrogant enough to believe he'd face zero consequences when caught. I have a feeling Eugene actually didn't know. He's EXTREMELY close friends with Ariel (Ned's wife), so I have a feeling that if he knew he would have told Ariel. He experienced his parents' ugly divorce due to cheating, so that alone would impact how he viewed this entire situation.

Not a great example. The value of a judge is impartial and critical judgement. If she exposed him (the judge) for having an affair - it would ruin him as a judge as it would expose him for having not being impartial, lack integrity and ruin him for the fans. 12:12 "He's not dead" That's true. It's actually worse. If a friend of 10 years dies, it's horrible and you grieve them, but you grieve them *as your friend*. If a friend of 10 years screws you over, their wife (your friend) over, with no regard for their two children or the company you own together, all for the fleeting pleasure of cheating with one of their employees who is engaged.... It calls into question the entire friendship. Did they care about anyone but themself for the last 10 years? Finding out that someone who you love is not who you thought they were is a horrible thing. I'd argue it's worse than them dying.

6:00 For those who don't know California Employment Law and how code of conduct contracts this is how it breaks down. In California you have the legal right that your workplace be free from sexual harassment and sexual discrimination (this applies to everyone). In California there are 2 kinds of sexual harassment, quid pro quo and hostile work environment. These laws aren't new, and it isn't just Alex that could claim them, but other workers saying they didn't get promotions or special treatment because they didn't sleep with a boss. The particular part that applies to Ned that wouldn't apply to all other employees is "hostile work environment", as a boss and the person in charge of HR he sets the tone for the work environment. If Ned has an affair and other Try Guys (bosses) condone it and then another employee sexually harasses any employee Ned and the other 3 bosses / co-founders can be found guilty of creating a hostile work environment. But that isn't the worst part (hostile work environment) because the company is like a family so that is less likely than any employee claiming they didn't get a raise, promotion, particular gig (show "food baby") or anything else because they didn't sleep with one of the bosses. Remember Eugene is gay so applies to all employees male and female being able to claim since they didn't participate in "quid pro quo" they didn't get what Alex got. These kind of cases have been won in the past in California but not in all other states that they have been tried. With 20 employees that is a huge liability to keep Ned on. Now with their brand deals and their TV show with the Food Network they sign code of conduct contracts. Ned's actions with an employee below him violated those contracts. The Try Guys have already been feeling the effects of that with their Food Network show being moved from Wednesday night at 10pm (prime time) to Friday at 10am (buried). Plus it is said some brands have pulled out. So yeah it's bad and the consequences are already being felt.

If I remember correctly from the podcast the reason the font was a big deal was the fact people would think their statements were together. They did a separate statement and him using the same font made it look like they were all together with the statements. He did it to try to make it look like he was still being supported by the brand.

Ok correction tho: They knew about it 1 month before, not a week. They found out labor day weekend; this is mentioned in the podcast but the summary girl got it wrong :P So yeah, they knew but for legal and family reasons waited to tell people.

I feel like y’all should have watched the full podcast, because it seems like you’re filling in blanks with information that the Tri-guys provided. Like timelines, information on investigations, etc.

Hold up hold up! The person that said "anyone remember the Trypod episode where he talks about his Yale friend who writes for SNL... Asking for a friend" That was Becky Habersberger! As in Keith's wife! That was totally glossed over!

they have said that they’re not as close with ned. keith and zach are closest and ik eugene and his partner are close with keith and his wife becky. they’ve mentioned ned doesn’t hang as often because he has a family and kids so it makes sense the others might not have had any idea. i know they say it in the do all try guys think the same vid about “are the try guys really friends?” ned has also said he’s closer to his friends from college and likes them better in the lie detector vid. i think he’s always been the odd man out tbh

Honestly, if you watch their whole videos on this situation they handle it as good as they could've 🤷‍♀️ Also no they didn't find out a week before, it was a month or something like that and yes they got rid of Ned before the news came out. Also everyone forgets that Ned wasn't just the friend, his wife was still friends with all of them and part of their company. My dude your understanding of things was kinda off here haha, still love hearing your commentary 😂

Honestly I'm disappointed that Ken choose to react to a situation he didn't have all or even most of the information for. Had he watched the initial video and the entire hour long podcast he'd be able to comment on it far more accurately. The Try Guys were made aware of the situation by a fan and they immediately started to investigate the accusations and react accordingly. They handled a horrible situation in the best way they could alongside a legal, HR, and PR team. Ned was removed BEFORE everything went super viral they just hadn't announced it yet. This should be held up as an example on how to handle workplace misconduct and videos like this do nothing but damage peoples subconscious belief if a situation like this were to happen again elsewhere. Honestly all this makes me believe is that these two would "make a play" in a situation like this instead of dealing with the workplace misconduct appropriately.

What I’ve read on the whole try guy drama; he had been caught before with the employee back in December (they kissed during a wedding or during some occasion), her (ex) fiancé had told him to back off and thought that was it. But then in April/May, they had been caught again in NY and wife had confronted them duo, he confirmed and she left back to CA. And then during August, he was photographed with the employee at a concert being all loved up, and people soon brought it to the attention of the significant others and then to the try guys. Idk what happens during that time between the Try Guys internal review and the significant others, but the (ex) fiancé supposedly leaked the photos and the messages out and that when they decided to come clean. Now it can run both ways; they either knew about it and were trying to find ways to lay them off without having a lawsuit on them or they didn’t know and we’re just brushing off the times the duo looked too close for comfort. But overall they did a great job with how they handled it, I’ve be never seen SNL a day in my life since I’m not into television, but I had a clear reason to believe that his “writer friend” was the one behind the skit to try and layoff the hate he’s been getting. P.S. the information I pulled out is what I’ve remembered through videos and TikTok’s that explained about it. I’m not sure if it’s 100% accurate P.P.S. Yung Gravy follows Ariel Fulmer on Instagram
