We were there late July 2023 and we stayed in Monterosso in an Airbnb villa for 3 days on the top of a hill and I have to agree with you that Monterosso and Manarola were the nicest of the 5 towns. However all of it was spectacular!!

Great video! Just got back from a 2 week Italian holiday and spent 3 nights in Monterosso Al Mare. Took your advice and started our hike in the morning in Monterosso to Vernazza and it worked out really well! It wasn't too too hot and even though it was a bit congested in some parts of the trail, it wasn't too bad (good opportunity to rest!). We explored Vernazza a bit and had a lovely lunch in the main square. Then trained it to the other villages and spent about 1-2 hours in each and then train back to Monterosso for the evening. We loved Manarola & Riomaggiore too, each one with their own unique feel and magnificent views! In Riomaggiore, we went to a bar overlooking the sea and watched the sun set while sipping our Aperol Spritz - magical! We skipped Corniglia because we were running out of time and didn't want to do that steep climb up all those stairs. The next day we took a ferry to Vernazza (our favorite town) and swam in the little harbor in the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean - it was wonderful! I think 3 nights is just the right amount of time to see and do Cinque Terre. Thanks again for the helpful tips!

loved your content and synopsis. We spent a week in an airbnb in Vernazza in early Sept and the true beauty of experiencing the Cinque Terre is being in one of the villages in the early morning before the daytrippers arrive on the trains and ferries and after they have left in the evening. Just you and the residents and the beauty and the quiet. So magical. If you only have a day or 2 then by all means day trip and enjoy but if you have the luxury of time then linger, hike, spend an afternoon at the beach to swim, find a restaurant where only locals go, and watch the sunset while sipping an Aperol Spritz in the most amazing location you will ever be in. If you are plannong a trip to Italy then make this a must see.

Beautiful day for your hike. We walked the Cinque Terre after the land slides you mentioned. There are (for anyone with the time and the right foot wear) higher trails than the lower tourist trails you walked just above the towns. This involves a considerable amount of effort and much higher ascents at the start and if you drop down into the towns on the way. The trails are marked quite well along the way by the numbered red and white striped indicators painted on walls, rocks and trees. We only got lost once during our high trail walk. This added a little extra to the journey, but we were rewarded with fantastic views and unplanned stops at a couple of villages which we would otherwise have missed. We stayed in Riomaggiore, so took a single trip to Monte Rosso and walked back. We had such a great time hiking there that we’re heading back this year with a bit of luck. Great video thank you 🙏, such a treat to see it all again.

Great video, I did Cinque Terre in a day two years ago. I did it reverse though and I think it worked out. When I was there you could only get to the different towns by train or walking. I remember loving Corniglia the most , even though it had those crazy stairs. I think it was because it was because I had the best pesto pasta I have ever had up there.

But I'm not going to walk the trail ..will take the ferries instead, yeah I know it's cheating but I'm totally not a fit person, and the only walking I'll do is really early in the mornings to some view points😁..Thanks for this video, I followed you all over Mexico and now I check in on you from time to time...what a coincidence you also went to Cinque Terre 👍 Mexico and Italy are my two favorite countries!!

Yes, I've been reading a lot about that side recently. It was so hard to choose which direction to head, but I went with this side for this trip. Hoping to return in Maybe January next year starting in Nice and working my way across the border that way and working my way over to Genoa. Sanremo also looks quite wonderful.

Great video! We're planning on visiting in October and are hoping for great weather as well! It was very informative and insightful, we liked that you included different information from what we've seen in other videos about Cinque Terre. Sad to hear that the trails between Corgnilia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore will be closed until 2024...How long did the hike take (minus stopping at the cafe/lunch)?

such a beautiful video! I think you made great choices, going in Spring, starting early, buying the comprehensive ticket, I would have suggested the same. Last year I did the tour in the other direction and honestly I've been told that the Monterosso-Vernazza hike is the most difficult, and I got tired very early in the day. The ticket of the park is useful because such a popular trail deteriorates fast and so it is for maintenance. Relating to the closed trails, I don't know if they told you, but that's the sad reality of Liguria. It's a delicate region, landslides are kind of inevitable because of how the territory is. We hope they will reopen soon as well!

Yes, I saw people walking from Monterosso to Vernazza and had read that going in that direction was quite difficult! I'm glad I chose to go in the other direction! I can't imagine how hot it would be hiking this trail in summer, the weather in April was perfect. I hope to return again maybe in a few years and walk the rest of the trail, as well as more trails up into the national park.

Hi! I'm going to La Spezia on one of the cruise stops. I really wanted to visit Cinque Terre. The ship arrives in La Spezia at 7 am and departs at 5 pm. I have some doubts: What is the best way to get from the port to the central station? Do you think I have time to visit the 5 villages? If yes, do I need to buy a ticket for each leg or is there an unlimited ticket? If you were to choose 2 or 3 of the best places in Cinque Terre, which would you recommend? Thanks for all the tips!!

Hi, Laura! Thank you for this great video! My sister and i are traveling to Europe and cinque terre is a must go for us. However I’ve heard so many people talking about how strenuous the stairs and hills can be and I’m a bit concerned. It will be now in the summer and I cannot hike for hours. You mentioned just using the train to visit the five towns (i read it in your blog) but can we have a good sense of the places just using the trains? I mean, can we still see the towns and walk around even if we don’t want to hike for hours? Thx
@laura-bronner
@laura-bronner 2 жыл бұрын
Yes! The trains stops mostly right in the town except for corniglia which requires climbing up quite a lot of stairs. You don’t have to hike at all if you don’t want to!
@lindaroth6273
@lindaroth6273 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, many people skip the trails altogether. I went in June and it's hot in summer, so take the train. Best hike is Corniglia to Vernazza, skip the others. I also liked the round trip boat trip from La Spezia at about 40 euros which also stops at Porto Venere, a lovely town.

@laura-bronner
@laura-bronner 2 жыл бұрын
You can’t do the trail all the way to Riomaggiore - only as far as Corniglia. I think corniglia to Monterosso is actually a bit easier than the other direction. Start as early as you can. The link for the tickets is in the description of the video or you can buy them on the day at any tourist information center (every town in cinque terre has one right next to the train station).

Lithuania has been a wonderful base to travel from and return home to. It is so packed with natural beauty, so quiet and peaceful and relaxing. I didn't love the winter months, but I did love being able to fly to Bergamo and then over to the south of France for less than $20 and spending some time in the sunshine. Like any country, it has it's positives and negatives, but I am enjoying living here quite a lot!
