Great video! I just learned about the circadian rythm a year ago lol

You’re amazing. Truly. Keep on being you. This is completely anecdotal, but the Wim Hof breathing method seemed to completely reset my circadian rhythms. For example, I was a hopeless insomniac for decades. Now I sleep like a baby. I’m usually asleep within 5 minutes and sleep incredibly deeply all the way through the night. Additionally, I believe the breathing method had a great impact on my mitochondrial health.

That’s a detailed explanation. Great job! Our lab at Penn State studies Per1 gene and it’s relationship with long term memory. Apparently, as mice and human age, both circadian rhythm and memory are disturbed. Exciting research area for studying age-related memory issues!

Great video! I really liked the way you explained how the circadian rythms works, I studied this biologic molecular clock from the metabolism persective, specifically on how this endogen clock modifies our mitochondrial dynamics and there is information on how this negative feedback loop interact with dynamic-related proteins, but there is still so much to learn about this cycle Greetings from Chile!

@Sheekey you mention experiments testing regular, periodic, sun light but most life on earth experiences seasonal changes in daylight. Does the Circadian clock(s) track the change in seasons and would this be a useful thing to test in a longitudinal experiment?

Superlative, concise and highly educational video. Two other factors are casein Kinase 1 epsilon, and its mutations (CK1ɛ tau/tau) and the element rubidium.

I'm really excited about the future of medicine. We will no longer go to the doctor when we feel sick but have a lot of sensors that tell us in real time that our circadian rhythm is not on point. Do you follow any tips to have a strong circadian rhythm?

How do sleep medications impact the circadian rhythms? Would it improve or damage longevity enhancing potential?

Is there a longevity difference between people with short vs long natural circadian rhythms (early risers/sleepers vs night owls)?

Watching this video at 1:00 a.m. when I have to be up at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow lol. Feel bad for my circadian rhythm.

Wouldn't we see a lifespan benefit for people closer to the equator, if it is the case that a near 12 / 12 light cycle extends life?

Cool! First thing I thought of is that when I was a teenager, I wanted the day to have 30 hours, so I could stay up for 20 and sleep for 10. XD I'm also wondering about how different sleeping patterns affect our biochemistry, from siestas to uberman polyphasic. The latter seems to me to be directly harmful, now that we know how cerebrospinal fluid is cleaning the brain in deep sleep, a stage you'd never reach if you're only napping. Pretty cool that we have multiple internal clocks. Can we end up having some internal dysrythmia and what consequences would that have? Definitely seems worthwhile to invest some time and effort into maintaining a healthy sleep cycle.
