I am a life long punk fan,..now 41 years old. But I have never understood why the Circle Jerks are held in such high regard. Everything they released was pure crap. People love, or at least claim to love, the group sex album. But it is just noise. I feel the same way about just about all of the American punk released around this time. Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Black Flag...all garbage. Bad Religion were the guys turned stuff around. They are incredible. Sure, there were the Ramones and guys like that. But I don't include them in this type of american punk. They understood the importance of melody.
