I did it, like this: AQ = AR, BQ = BP, CP = CR (theorem) --------r. (1) From the figure, 1) BC = BP + CP BC - BP = CP BC - BQ = CR [• BP = BQ and CP = CR, from (1)] --------- eq (2) 2) AB + BQ = AQ ⇒BQ = AQ - AB -------- eq (3) From (1) AQ = AR Expanding RHS (AR) = AC + CR = AC + (BC - BQ) [CR = BC - BQ, from eq (2)] = AC + BC - BQ = AC + BC - (AQ - AB) [BQ = AQ - AB, from eq (3)] = AC + BC - AQ + AB ⇒AQ = AB + BC + AC - AQ (Rearranged the terms) ⇒ AQ + AQ = AB + BC + AC ⇒2 AQ = AB + BC + AC ⇒ AQ = (AB + BC + AC)/2 = (1/2)(AB+BC+AC) = (1/2)(Perimeter of ∆ABC) ------ Hence Proved
