Having driven on several different Meister setups, the Clubrace are definitely the way to go. The regular Meister Zeta R spring rates (something like 6k front 4k rear) are just way too soft for high grip scenarios. Alternatively, regular Meister dampers respond well enough to slightly stiffer springs to be a consideration. I can vouch for using 550lbs/in (9.8k) front and 350lbs/in (6.3k) rear springs. The Clubrace, however, are worth the upgrade if you want a true "one and done" solution.

Absolutely agree bud. We’ve done similar on other builds and found them great albeit the clubrace seem to be a leap on in terms of compliance as well as still giving great body control. Just smooth stuff out soo well without being crashy and harsh. Unfortunately the coilovers on it at mo aren’t MeisterR, they are protech dual adjustables but have been specced a bit off lol. Sorry I realise I didn’t make it clear in the vid 👍👍.

@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS also FYI I've heard that the factory ECUs on NCs limit the torque in the lower gears, I've heard 1st -3rd. It's not something Mazda has ever confirmed but I think people have found out on dynos. So getting a tune to sort that out might help before you do a 6spd swap? Although this is info from online forums so take it with a pinch of salt maybe!

Yes! Many manufacturers do it Don’t they! I know my previous 350z was guilty of the same! I’d like to do the ecu remap but probs all in one go with the ITBs and exhaust manifold to save multiple mapping costs (man maths I know haha)!

Yess thanks bud! I did the coolant reroute on my previous turbo build but this one uses the VVT engine which has the revised headgasket :). It's a bit of a minefield to find out which is the best option to go when i comes to the cylinder4 failure issues due to the double pass. I think when I fit the forged rods etc I will revert to the older headgsket with the reroute as I know that worked faultlessly on my mk2. This revised VVT headgasket is meant to of solved those issues... but i feel it may not be as efficient as the reroute option :). Ohhh yikes, 5 speed boxes by any chance? Maybe try the 6 speed as they are much stronger. Failing that wrapping the downpipe to stop some heat transfer and even a gearbox oil cooler may be good and on my list of things to do moving forward. We had a gearbox cooler on Matts mx2000 which worked well. Thanks again bud and hope to see you on track soon!

My seat touches the roll cage and makes a really horrid noise. Will wrap a bit of cloth round that point in the cage to stop it :). The other noise is the damn exhaust touching one of the braces. All needs a bit of fine tuning! Thanks for watching Gavin 👍

@@Clubman99 Yeahh agreed, the kit cars just cannot be as sweet or as playful on the limit imho. The superlight stuff shuffles about beneath you doesn't it, can take a fair while for folk to get used to. Regarding Turbo... This is the second turbo I’ve built and we had a supercharged one for a while too along with countless nasp builds. The itb’d ones are just mega! Absolutely awesome soulful joyous things but don’t quite hit the power figure I would be happy with for the effort (which is why the NCs are an option for me with Itbs and a few bits able to get circa 220hp which is spot on for me). The FI route is a tricky one, it has some mega plus points but does complicate what is usually such a simple car. Again though the character is mega and they do feel genuinely quick!

From my experience driving NC Sport with 6 speed with 3.7FD - it NEEDS shorter ratios! I had the same idea with 6 speed and 4.1FD, it is the way to go I think! Regarding NA mx5, do you know what IATs you have reached?
@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS3 жыл бұрын
Yess, can't wait to try it. I've had a go in the 6 speed and mine being the 5 speed and both feel incredibly long geared (most cars do tbf don't they). Looking forward to fitting the 6 speed to my car with the existing 4.1 in the car... should really wake it up a bit! Unfortunately the canchecked gauge wasn't working so unable to know but it certainly had all the characteristics of heat soak :(. I've changed the intake setup now and it's going to direct feed from a headlight duct so fingers crossed it will be much better along with the bonnet vents. Thanks for watching dude, your car is mega 💪💪💪💪💪

Great video, but hmm.....it looked like you were driving a high revving ITB rather than a turbo mk1!! Especially into the corners. Yeah, the mushy Protechs sound like the biggest issue. Also how is the wheel alignment and the roll stiffness between front and rear? Once you have those 3 things dialled in, the mk1 will be a different beast. Mk3's are SO underrated. Mind you, you have the MeisterR Clubrace 10kg front and 6kg rear springs which are way better than the OEM set up. I run a heat shield on my turbo mk1 (don't like heat wrap as it traps too much heat in the cylinder head) and I have no IAT issues or under-bonnet temp issues. Bonnet vents will definitely help (and look even more 'race car'!!) but at around 220hp you shouldn't be getting too much heat as the engine/turbo shouldn't be too stressed, unless the turbo is not running efficiently (i.e. too much boost for the power output). What are you running 8-10psi? (MeisterR Clubrace is the way to go - don't bother trying to accommodate the Protechs. You won't regret it in the end ¦;¬D )
@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud! Yep... I’ll totally take that 😅... we’ve geared it super aggressive and I have just become so used to high revving nasp stuff that it took me a few sessions to start to figure it out 😅😅. It’s definitely got some great potential and agreed... Slap some clubrace on, proper geo and see what we have hey! Because the canchecked gauge wasn’t on I couldn’t tell you for sure but it had all the characteristics of heat soak. Truth be told I’ve never been happy with the intake setup. Interesting about boost levels. I too expected to be circa 8-10psi for the 230hp output but it’s actually at 12psi. Still as you say, shouldn’t be stressed, i ran no vents etc on my previous and it never had any issues. Hopefully get to the same track day soon bud 👍 be great to see yours and im sure we could talk for hours about these things haha!
